Durgotsava starts from Sixth Navratri, which falls on Shashti Tithi and end on Dashami Tithi or culminate on 10th day of Navratri. This year, Durga Puja started from
October 8 and it will culminate with Durga idol visarjan, which is going to be celebrated on
October 12, 2024.

Durga Puja 2024: SignificanceDurga Puja is one of the major Hindu festivals. These days are dedicated to Goddess Durga and during these days, devotees celebrate Durga Utsav with great pomp and show and they enjoy this festival to the fullest. They worship Goddess Durga during these days and perform various puja rituals to appease Maa Durga. This is the period to celebrate the triumph of Goddess Durga over demon Mahishasura. These days of Navratri represents that evil energy has to be eliminated, the feminine energy always kill them and establish righteousness and peace in the universe. These days are celebrated to honour the Goddess Durga.
Devotees make so many arrangements before Ghatshtapana and various festivities are organised during these days. They prepare special food and observe strict fast during nine long days to please the Goddess. Navratri festival is celebrated to remember the fierce battle which Maa Durga had with Mahishasura, the demon in the form of buffalo and gave a lesson to the devotees that never give up on negative energies, stay strong and worship the feminine energy and protect yourself from them.
