WWE Hall Of Famer, D-Von Dudley, recently reflected some light upon an infamous segment involving Triple H. In a candid statement, Dudley argued that the controversial moment which received massive backlash from fans when it aired should have never been broadcast in the first place. With WWE having a massive fanbase varying from a child to a veteran, such content is contentious and sets a bad example for the younger generation.
Here’s more insight into Dudley’s take on disputable content being aired.

Don-V Dudley on Triple H’s controversial segment, Deems it unfit for broadcast

In the 2003 edition of Monday Night Raw, Booker T was set to compete against Triple H in a World Heavyweight Championship match. While both eminent wrestlers were set to face each other inside the squared circle, Triple H’s depreciating comments on Booker T were highly disregarded. Triple H made comments like “people like you don’t get to be World champion” while making racial remarks about Booker T’s hair and way of speaking. While The Game stood victorious in the match, his pre-match comments did not sit well with the fans and the wrestling community alike.

Dudley gave his take on this while speaking on Maven Huffman's Youtube Channel. While discussing the most racist moments in the history of WWE, this arguable segment came to light again. The conversation went like this,
“Maven: Booker was put in a…
D-Von: Compromising position.
Maven: And a no-win position. If he, if Booker says, ‘No, I’m not doing that, I’m not good with this…
D-Von: He could have lost his job.
Maven: He would have lost his job. They would have replaced him with someone quickly. They wouldn’t have changed the script. It’s the subtleties that get me, the looking up and down, the ‘nappy head.’ I’m gonna tell you what I think, but have the gloss of ‘it’s just character.”

Further continuing the conversation, Dudley also added the impact this type of content leaves on children and young adults who follow pro wrestling to the core and might get misguided by such matters. He stated, “Right? Something that should not have been put on camera and in an audience as big as this, because we got kids, you know? There’s kids watching. There are, you know, people that are influenced by pro wrestling. So to ever go that route again, we should never, never go back. I don’t think we can, but I don’t think we ever should have in the first place.”

In the end, we do believe that controversies attract viewership but they should not cross certain boundaries. Some things can be left behind the scenes if they can risk hampering the company’s reputation as a whole and setting a wrong example for the youth.
