This panel, comprising experts in the fields of urban planning and research, will explore the multifarious perspectives on Ukraine's recovery and the country's multifaceted nature. The discussion will address the question of what recovery truly means for Ukrainian society, the balance between preservation and reimagining, and the potential of digital tools and skills to support these visions.
🎤 We’re excited to welcome an incredible lineup of speakers:
Alexander Shevchenko
Founder and leader of Restart, Oleksandr specialises in urban and regional planning. His international experience in Germany, Italy, and Malaysia has shaped his approach to adapting global best practices to the Ukrainian context. At Restart, he leads a multidisciplinary team of professionals tackling contemporary challenges of spatial planning, recovery, and decentralisation.
Mariana Kuzemska
Head of the Urban Department at Cedos, Mariana focuses on community development and participatory approaches in urban planning. A lecturer in Cultural Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University and a cultural manager, she worked as the coordinator of strategy, research, and education programs at the Culture Strategy Institute in Lviv, Ukraine, and coordinated the working group on "Strategy for the Development of Culture of Lviv 2025."
Dr. Alirza Mamedov
Dean of the Urban and Spatial Planning Faculty at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA), Dr. Mamedov has been teaching urban planning and modeling since 1995. He is also one of the founders of the „SchooI of Urban Studies", held since 2017 with the participation of Ukrainian and foreign students, teachers, and specialists.
M. Sc. Anna Kuzyshyn
The research assistant at the Chair of Urban Planning at Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), Anna specialises in urban planning and architecture. She coordinates the DAAD Ukraine Digital and GIZ Strengthen Urban Resilience projects with a focus on digital teaching modules and resilient urban development in Ukraine.
