University as Facilitator Community Based Sustainable Solutions
About us
The MUST-IUC project titled “University as a Facilitator for Community based Sustainable Solutions to Demographic Challenges in South Western Uganda” hereafter referred to as UCoBS focuses on strengthening the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) flagship Community Based Education, Research and Service. The project is to be achieved through a reciprocal model using a participatory, innovative, multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and gender-based approach blended with information communication and technology to achieve improved and sustainable household livelihoods in South Western Uganda. These approaches aim at contributing to the redress of demographic challenges that have become a topical issue on the national and international agenda. The project is premised on institutional capacity gaps and six community-oriented thematic areas targeting the Most At-Risk Populations (MARPs). The project is funded by the Flemish Interuniversities’ Council (VLIR-UOS), and coordinated by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Belgium

What an incredible journey it has been at the Mbarara City Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp this week! From the moment we kicked off with eager minds ready to learn and innovate, to the final day filled with excitement and anticipation for the pitch presentations, every moment has been nothing short of inspiring. Throughout the week, over 60 young participants delved into the world of entrepreneurship, refining their ideas, mastering financial strategies, and honing their presentation skills. They faced challenges head-on, embraced feedback, and demonstrated remarkable resilience and creativity. We are immensely proud of each and every participant for their dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to their entrepreneurial dreams. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support and guidance from our mentors, partners, and volunteers. Your expertise, encouragement, and willingness to share your knowledge have truly made a difference in shaping the future of these aspiring entrepreneurs. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this Youth Bootcamp a resounding success. Together, we have ignited a spark of innovation and entrepreneurship that will continue to shine brightly in Mbarara City and beyond.
