For the past few weeks I was privileged to be in the organizing team for the first of it's kind "WomensGathering" led by Food Rights Alliance - FRA and other partners focusing on Women in the #Agrifoodsystems (Fisheries, Diary and Coffee) in the 3 regions of Central, Western and Eastern Uganda and crowning it with a national Women's Gathering which attracted over 500 women. under the theme "Women and girls against hunger and malnutrition" the main objective of this gathering was #strengthen #voices while #documenting the #lived #experiences of women in the different sectors. Each of the women groups generated call to actions that were context sensitive, issues based and solution oriented read and submitted to the key stakeholders present for further advocacy and policy and legal reform and in summary: 👉 Women in Fisheries(Katosi women)- Promotion of gender sensitive fishing technologies for their increased engagement and prioritisation of access to justice in the fisheries sector. 👉 Women in Coffee(Elgon Mothers)- Enhancement of tenure security as well as provision of appropriate technology to enhance value addition and markets. 👉 Women in Diary(Kigezi)- advocated for realistic programs that strategically address challenges of water and feed for their livestock amidst climate change. 💥💥Key learning from this gathering to all the different stakeholders is that womens issues are different and their experiences are difference hence the need for strategic and context sensitive interventions that respond to their unique realities across the different agricultural value chains. #Agrifoodsystems #GenderSensitiveInitiatives #ContextMatters #WomensGathering LANDnet Uganda Uganda Community Based Association for Women and Children Welfare (UCOBAC) Stand for Her Land Food Rights Alliance - FRA World Vision WOMEN`S LAND RIGHTS MOVEMENT-(WLRM)
