Supporting Our Top Town Market Community Through Change As Grimsby’s town centre enters a new chapter with transformative regeneration projects, we recognise that this period of change brings challenges for some in our community, particularly the market traders who have been an integral part of our town for decades. The commencement of major construction works—including the Horizon Youth Zone, the NHS Diagnostic Centre, and the Freshney Place leisure and cinema scheme—marks a turning point in Grimsby’s story. While these projects promise an exciting future with increased opportunities and revitalised spaces, the temporary closure of the existing market hall is understandably difficult for those affected. We empathise deeply with the traders whose businesses have been impacted. For some, the logistics and nature of their operations make temporary relocation unfeasible, leading to closures that affect not only their livelihoods but also their loyal customers who have cherished these local businesses for years. The local authority has worked to offer alternative arrangements where possible, including the Grimsby Farmers Market on the third Friday of each month, complete with rent incentives and ready-to-go setups. While we welcome this effort to provide some continuity, we also acknowledge that for many, it’s not a perfect solution. To the market traders and their customers, we want you to know that the 2025 Group stands with you. We are committed to listening to you and providing help where we can. Your resilience and dedication to the community is acknowledged. We also understand that not everyone will feel the same way about these changes, and we welcome all perspectives as part of the ongoing conversation about how we can best support our community through this transition. As we look forward to the opening of the new market hall in coming years, we are confident it will provide an incredible space to showcase the best of Grimsby’s entrepreneurial spirit. In the meantime, let’s rally together as a community. Visit the Farmers Market to support traders who are participating and support the traders in their new ventures elsewhere in the town. Together, we can try and support our community.

We are going to see some big changes here soon. The Freshney Place regeneration scheme is a cornerstone of North East Lincolnshire’s wider revitalisation efforts. It plays a vital role in shaping the future of our town centre, supporting and enhancing other key projects like the Horizon Youth Zone, Community Diagnostic Centre, the Alexandra Dock housing scheme, the new Transport Hub and the E-Factor Business Hub. Beyond its role in regeneration, the scheme secures the future of Freshney Place itself, safeguarding 1,700 local jobs and ensuring the town centre remains a thriving hub for the community. Exciting progress! St James House is on track to bring new business facilities to Grimsby town centre. The transformation of St James' House into a vibrant business hub promises significant benefits for the Grimsby community. Strategically located in the heart of the town, this revitalised space will provide local businesses with an ideal base to thrive amidst the ongoing regeneration. Offering flexible rental terms and comprehensive business support, the project ensures accessibility for businesses of all sizes. From co-working spaces and hot desks to meeting rooms and a dedicated business event space, St James’ House will foster collaboration and innovation. The new headquarters for the Business Hive Club will strengthen a network of over 300 members, creating opportunities for growth and connection. As businesses move in, St James’ Square will once again become a lively centre of activity, boosting footfall and reinforcing the town centre's role as a hub of commerce and community life. We can’t wait to see it come to life! If you would like to know more about this project, you can book a meeting with me here https://lnkd.in/eWQ3RX8v
