We've been busy this week! 🔍 Jackie Wain has been undertaking #HAZOP and #LOPA studies with Jack Bourne, George Foley and Shahzeb Rehman are working on #SIL verification and #machinery interlock 🔐 calculations (and testing Nick Howard FS Eng!), and Kaja Smerecka is prepping for #DSEAR 🔥 #hazard study #workshops in the #NorthEast next week. We've been visiting existing clients at their sites in the #Tees Valley to discuss future developments, and as the cream on the cake - Andrew Buchanan and Sarah Juliff met up with Roger 🐶 , the MD of Assentech Sales Limited and his head of staff Ewart Cox in #knaresborough for - you guessed it - cake! 🍰 Reflecting on the activities undertaken in just a week makes it easy to appreciate the breadth of industries we have the privilege of working with 🧡 If you'd like us to come and support YOUR facility 🏭 or your engineering projects 📚 contact us through LinkedIn or via our website at www.6engineering.co.uk!

While the unpredictable ocean might seem like the biggest threat in offshore life, the real dangers often come from less obvious places... 👉 Weak equipment design 👉 Poor emergency responses 👉 Bad safety rules These problems can make the natural risks of the ocean even worse, leading to major disasters. To tackle these issues, we carry out Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies at facilities worldwide. These careful checks look for possible problems in equipment and procedures. By doing this, we aim to prevent major accidents and make the work environment safer for everyone. DM us to reach out to our team.

Machinery Risk Assessments👇 Employers have a responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act to identify where harm can occur in the workplace and put mitigations in place to prevent it. For ‘low hazard’ industries, much of the focus can be on occupational health and safety such as preventing slips & trips or contact with nip points, or on PUWER compliance for lifting equipment. Did you also know you can apply a technical-based risk assessment to the following?👀 - Electric hoists and lifting equipment - Hopper systems - Mixing tanks - Assembly lines - Conveyors and screw distributors - Filters and screens - Palletisers - And many more! When it comes to the use of equipment by a final user, the safety of the process can be assumed to be inherent in the design when installed, however, this would not be the case for the use of second-hand equipment, retrofitted improvements and changes in operating methods or process windows. It is also important to check suppliers of new equipment have included this in the scope of supply. We’ve carried out machinery risk assessments at sites from global suppliers to innovation centres using pilot scale operations and in a range of industries! DM us to get in touch.

Congratulations Sarah Juliff, on completing your PGCert in Hydrogen Safety at Ulster University! Levelling up safety engineers in the principles and technologies of hydrogen safety will make a cleaner and safer world for us all 💪
We're levelling up! At 6 Engineering, we're always looking to grow our #skills and stay up to date so we can support our clients. This month we have FOUR members of the team who've received shiny new pieces of paper for their portfolios! Nick Howard FS Eng has completed the Teesside University International Business School Help to Grow #Management course aimed at #SMEs supported by Small Business Charter. Sarah Juliff is following in the footsteps of our illustrious leader and has completed her PGCert in #Hydrogen #Safety from Ulster University, sponsored by the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR HYDROGEN SAFETY. Emily Hanley BSc MSc Foundation CIPD continues to look after the team, expanding her skills in completing her #mentalhealth #firstaid certificate with NCFE, also successfully completed by another member of the squad - both via Orangebox Training Solutions Ltd.. Did you know we also deliver training as well as attending it? To get your teams up to date with relevant safety legislation, upskill for efficiency in your hazard studies or anything else process and functional safety related, contact us today via LinkedIn or www.6engineering.co.uk We look forward to training with you!
