The Academy of International Business Sustainability Shared Interest Group hosted a social networking event at #AIB2024 conference is Seoul, South Korea sponsored by the International Business Department at Leeds University Business School, UK. The event took place at Platinum Launch Bar at the official conference hotel Lotte on 4th July 2024 from 07:00 pm to midnight. It was open for all conference delegates but it needed preliminary registration. The 40 attendees limit was filled in very quickly and some of the conference delegates joined us later in the evening which resulted in 60-70 people in total attending the social networking event. They all enjoyed a variety of cheeses, snacks, fruits, and beverages of their preference. Many of them expressed gratitude on the next day for the warm atmosphere, and they said that the event had such a pleasant spirit that it exceeded their expectations. They also asked for the same social networking event to be organized again next year. They said that they liked most that the SIG representatives went around all the tables and talked to everybody, so that nobody felt left behind. We would like to especially thank to our sponsor the International Business Department, Leeds University Business School, UK and to the Deputy Dean Professor Niall Hayes and the Head of IB Department Prof Mohammad Faisal Ahammad for approving and supporting it. Leeds University Business School was highlighted as one of the conference sponsors during the opening and closing ceremonies. Once again special thanks to the conference organizers Tunga Kiyak and Ieva Kule, CMP, CTA and the whole Academy of International Business (AIB) team, also Jasper Minton-Taylor manager of the IB department admin team for the full support during the preparation and organizing of the event. What great engagement we had at the Sustainability SIG Café 2: Sustainability Impact on 5th July 2024 led by Hinrich Voss, University of Bristol and Martin Heinberg, University of Leeds! The participants discussed different institutional set-ups to capture sustainability impact across different countries and understand how this translates into IB research. We brainstormed how our scope of sustainability impact pathways can be broadened beyond firms and policy makers, overlooking potential effects on communities, health, the environment, quality of life, etc. This café was a nice a platform to explore if the impact achieved in one research project could be transferable to other contexts/countries. I hope that this may be a start of future research projects and collaborations and achieving greater societal impact than originally anticipated. What great exchange of ideas we had at the Sustainability SIG Café 1: Embedding Sustainability in International Business Education: a Research Agenda on July 4th, 2024! The Café Facilitators Sandra Seno-Alday, University of Sydney and Maria Ilieva, University of Leeds started the session with interactive discussions on challenges and opportunities to embed sustainability in international business education. Most of the participants were using sustainability is some of their lectures for various modules they were teaching and were using different approaches according to the number of students they had in a class. We exchanged various ideas of diverse topics including how to use AI in the classroom and in assessments, how to teach responsible business and gambling to future casino managers, and many others. The session then introduced opportunities to develop papers for the Academy of International Business Sustainability Shared Interest Group and AIB Teaching & Education Special Interest Group special issue on Preparing Leaders to Tackle Grand Challenges in the Journal of Management Education (JME). Focusing on the aims of the special issue, the short workshop discussed ways to develop an academic journal article for JME but applicable to management education journals in general.
