About us

AfID offers accountants from around the world the opportunity to use their skills to support a broad range of non-profit organisations globally. Assignments of between 2 weeks and 12 months, or permanent salaried placements, form part of an ongoing strategy to build the financial management and reporting capacity of charities in over 50 countries. Accountants could be budgeting with a street kid centre in Kampala, coaching a hospital bookkeeper in Kigali, financial reporting for a primary school in Kathmandu or mentoring a new FM in Kharthoum. UK roles include FD, CFO, FC, FM, Project & Programme accountant, Internal Audit, management and Financial accountant positions with or without the need to travel overseas. Our non profit partners, which include INGOs, Social Enterprises, NGOs, charities and the country offices of Int'l NGOs, street kid centres, health clinics and rural schools are all doing amazing work to tackle extreme poverty and inequality in their communities but are unable to access vital professional skills and training. Accounting for International Development has now supported over 500 charities and non-profit organisations in 52 countries across Africa, Asia and South America. AfID has organised overseas assignments for over 1000 accountants, FDs, FCs and Partners from 45 countries taking the total hours of pro-bono financial management, coaching and consultancy by our volunteers to over 250,000 - equating to over £12 Million worth of professional services.   • [NEW] FINANCE SYSTEMS SPECIALIST [#914] Our partner, an international charity, is seeking an experienced finance systems specialist to lead in the implementation and roll out of a new ERP system in the UK and across their country offices. Suitable for a qualified accountant & project manager, with experience leading ERP systems implementations for multi-country, multi-currency environments, and an understanding of donor requirements and restricted/unrestricted fund management. A working knowledge of French is desirable. This will be around a year’s fixed-term contract starting in March 2025. This is a blended role with hybrid work requirements. Our partner is a 270-year old UK based social change organisation with a mission to enable people, places and the planet to flourish. They provide platforms, opportunities and networks for all those who share their vision. They are seeking the support of a volunteer to work with individual members of the finance team to update their Finance Manual. The manual is in reasonable shape, but could be more comprehensive in a number of areas. Our partner works globally to drive the consumption of healthier diets for all, especially the most vulnerable, by improving the availability, affordability, desirability, and sustainability of nutritious and safe foods. They have been progressively and methodically reviewing their financial procedures over the last 2+ years, but there are several areas that remain outstanding.
