Our industry's literacy programme, Media Smart UK, has partnered with TikTok and Livity to launch a new creative campaign for parents. ‘Teens, Social Media & You’ will help parents, caregivers and teachers have conversations with teens about digital creation, advertising content and online safety. Rachel Barber-Mack, Media Smart’s executive director, says: “It has never been more critical to support parents’ understanding of their young people’s online environment, particularly following the pandemic which led to a significant increase in daily screen-time.” The campaign includes a collection of creator-led videos, first launching in the UK before being rolled out in the EU. We are the only organisation that brings together agencies, brands and media to combine strengths and seek consensus on the issues that affect them. Through wide-reaching engagement and evidence-based debate we aim to build trust and maximise the value of advertising for all concerned.
