🚧 Sectional Completion for Derriford! 🎉 We’re thrilled to announce sectional completion for our Derriford Retail Park project! Huge thanks to our incredible team, suppliers, and client reps who went above and beyond, working around the clock to make this happen. 💪 ALDI officially opened its doors yesterday, and it’s been fantastic seeing so many locals stopping by and sharing such positive feedback about the new store. 🛒 The other units are gearing up to open soon, and we can’t wait to see the whole site in action. This project has truly been something special, and we couldn’t have done it without the amazing people we have around us. For those on half-term next week, enjoy the well-deserved break! We’ll be a bit quieter here while some of the team takes a little time off to recharge. SOCIAL VALUE ACHIEVED AT DERRIFORD RETAIL PARK 🌧️Despite the wet and windy morning on-site, last Wednesday was a special one! We gathered with the amazing companies that went above and beyond to help us exceed our social value targets on the Derriford Retail Park project. Receiving this recognition is a fantastic feeling for the whole team and everyone who made this project truly memorable. We kicked off the day with breakfast, good chats, and a special moment where our Nigel Whelan and Steve Rosewell handed out certificates to those who played a key role in making this project a success. We're now in the final stages of handing over the last units, and last week, Mr. Dawson (The Range) paid us a lovely visit to see how great the project looks—he praised the hard work of the team. For us at Devon Contractors, social value isn’t just a box to tick. It’s about going beyond, showcasing our fantastic industry, and highlighting the impact we’re making in the City and across Devon. We’re proud to say we surpassed our goal with over 10 work experience placements (target was 6!), and each placement was for SEN/SEMH students. We were thrilled to visit site this week at Derriford District Centre to celebrate the Social Value aspect of this fantastic project and team! It truly highlights the positive impact on the community and the future careers of students. The LD/A Unit is taking shape! Fantastic to see progress on site for the Learning Disability / Autism Unit in Dawlish. Following the erection of steel frame in June and roofing works well underway earlier this month, stud partitions are now being installed to bring each individual room design to life. The LD/A Unit is an innovative new mental healthcare facility that will soon be providing specialist care for adults with a learning disability and /or autism. We’re looking forward to seeing the internal finishes start to be installed very soon! This Saturday morning, Airey & Coles had the pleasure in taking part in the 11 Tors event organised brilliantly by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock. The day kicked off in typical Dartmoor mist and fog, but this soon lifted and the sun came out in plenty of time for us to enjoy the stunning Dartmoor landscape and, of course, a well-earned beer afterwards! There are still some sore legs in the office today, nonetheless we had a fantastic day and were delighted to support and help raise funds for the team at Dartmoor Search and Rescue Tavistock. Derriford Retail Park - The Final Stages... We're excited to share some amazing aerial shots from "Dave the Drone" showcasing Derriford Retail Park as it takes shape! We've successfully handed over Aldi and Marks & Spencer for their fit-out stages, with the remaining units to follow soon. 💪 It's been a challenging journey, with hundreds of workers on-site, numerous suppliers and partners, and overcoming tough conditions like Coltar and Severe Weather. Despite it all, we've achieved a full Social Value Plan, and the team is still smiling! The team are passionately focused on shaping the future of the County, supporting the economic growth ambitions whilst protecting the natural environment and helping align with Cornwall Council’s 2030 Carbon Neutral ambitions. Delivering real Social Value through these programmes remains a key part of our commitment to Cornwall Council, who are using the CITB Employment and Skills Plan (ESP) to measure our performance across seven KPI areas. I’m immensely proud of our achievements to date, having significantly exceeded all the ESP targets, as well as widening the scope to deliver additional Social Value and community benefits. Harbour Arch Quay - The Barbican, Plymouth We’re excited to announce the completion of the Envelope Package to the stunning new Harbour Arch Quay development. Nestled at the water’s edge, this building offers breathtaking views of Sutton Harbour Marina, The Barbican, and Plymouth Sound. Hawkings Cladding was engaged directly by the Client in 2022 for the pre-construction design and procurement of the Rainscreen through-wall package. Our work included designing, supplying, and installing Ash & Lacy SFS Framing, Euroform Versaroc Sheathing, and a comprehensive Plastestrip support system, featuring the striking Etex Tectiva 8mm Panels, CGL Facades Gold Anodised Planks, @STO Glass Rainscreen Panels. Due to the complex nature of the build and challenging site logistics, early and detailed design collaboration between HCL, Peter Curno of ADG Architecture Design Graphics and Garry Mason of Airey & Coles Consulting Engineers was crucial to delivering the high-quality results and performance demanded by this project. Now the project is complete, we’re proud to admire the beauty of Harbour Arch Quay, reflect on the hard work involved, and appreciate the fantastic supply chain partners that made this build possible.
