We are proud to have become a Build Torbay member today! 🎉🎉 Giving back, is something, which at Appleyard & Trew LLP, we pride ourselves with. Torbay Council, through the Build Torbay initiative, led by Lucy Lewis, aims to encourage the careers and construction prospects for young people, across the borough, which covers the towns of Torquay, Paignton & Brixham. With both our Jack Wilkinson and Oliver Tyack from the South West team, having grown up in the Bay, (AKA, The English Riviera🌴☀ ), and attending local schools, we really wanted to get in on the initiative, to inspire the next generation, and today we have! With A&T currently commissioned on schemes across the Bay, there also has been no better time for us to join in on the action! Thank you Lucy Lewis, for meeting us, and we look forward to working together!

Quantity Surveying, Employers Agent, Project Management, Fund Monitoring
About us
Appleyard & Trew was established in 1969 as a Partnership of Quantity Surveyors. Whilst originally established as traditional Quantity Surveyors, additional core services now include: • Project Management • Employer’s Agent • CDM Advisers • Building Surveying • Fund Monitoring These services can be provided as stand-alone disciplines, or a combined one-stop service by qualified staff operating out of 4 offices located across the United Kingdom (Manchester, London, Leeds, East Midlands & South West). Current Partners and staff continue the traditions and values of the founding Partners, providing customer focussed services and solutions. The practice is medium sized within the construction industry, giving us the flexibility to provide attention to detail on smaller projects, whilst at the same time providing the resources to complete large and complex projects throughout the United Kingdom. The practice is owned by its Partners, we have no external shareholders to answer to and therefore avoid the pressures that this sometimes creates. A significant volume of our workload is obtained through repeat commissions and personal recommendation.

Amazing to see our very own Oliver Tyack participating in G4C South West / Constructing Excellence South West podcast discussing National Apprenticeship week. Great work Oliver!
“Build on your personal skills, and who you are as a person! Employer’s love when you are yourself and when you are authentic! Be willing to learn; and accept that you are going to make some mistakes along the way, as that is part of the learning journey…” Get those headphones ready as Alice Taylor of Ward Williams and Oliver Tyack of Appleyard & Trew LLP explore the key questions and myths of construction apprenticeships, such as: “Would I be at a disadvantage applying for an apprenticeship if I have not got any construction experience?” and “Are apprenticeships a viable alternative to university and do they offer any meaningful career progression routes?" https://lnkd.in/e-eJfmTC Build Torbay Torbay Council #BuildingPlymouth Plymouth City Council #nationalapprenticeshipweek National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2025, Appleyard & Trew LLP wanted to showcase our commitment to apprenticeships. 🎉 In Manchester, Harry Lewis started his Level 4 HNC Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship with Salford City College Group in 2023 and is due to finish the scheme this year. In the South West, Oliver Tyack, started his Level 6 BSc(Hons) Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management Degree Apprenticeship with University of the West of England/ UWE Bristol Apprenticeships in 2019, graduating in 2024, and is currently a ‘gateway’ apprentice, preparing for his APC to become an MRICS chartered RICS Surveyor, in due course. We are also proud that Oliver is a Young Apprentice Ambassador with South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network. Although not apprentices, in London, we are proud to support Annabelle Yeates with her BSc(Hons) Quantity Surveying course at Kingston University, and Daniel Hand, with his MSc Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management course at Oxford Brookes University, whilst working for us on a part time basis. Supporting the future generation is key, and we are proud to play our part!

We're proud to support Plymouth City Council with their BPART (Building Plymouth Aspiring Rising Talent) programme in 2025. As dedicated members and supporters of #buildingplymouth, we nominated Oliver Tyack for the programme, and last night, he attended the 2025 programme introduction led by Morven Maclean at the Sutton Harbour offices of Foot Anstey. #buildingplymouth #BP10

Progress continues at our £1.9 million Lowestoft Seafront Vision project for East Suffolk Council. At Royal Green, the existing brick walls along the promenade have been removed; a new bouldering facility is being installed; stations are being created for exercise and improved seating and we are excavating for new planting beds and edges. Inspiration for this area has been drawn from the beach, broads, harbour and piers. At Royal Plain we are installing a 7.5m x 4m x 4m water storage tank beneath the esplanade, which will serve the new fountain and mirror pool, one of the most requested features the community wanted to see reinstated. The existing fountain is being removed with the paving being stored to be re-used on site. The Seafront Vision will create an accessible seafront that encourages social interaction and will maintain and grow a vibrant visitor economy.
