📣 BakerHicks is our Gold Annual Dinner Sponsor 📣 Our gold sponsor for the upcoming Women in Property Annual Dinner on 7th March 2025 is BakerHicks! Laura James, Director of Infrastructure and Chair of the D&I Group at BakerHicks, says the company’s support for Women in Property is a key part of their equality, diversity and inclusion journey: “We believe that having a workforce that is diverse, fully inclusive and offers everyone the same opportunities is fundamental to creating a successful business, and it’s something we’re fully committed to. A key part of this is increasing female representation. This will drive innovation, foster diverse perspectives and ultimately lead to superior solutions. A big moment for our Oligonucleotide Manufacturing Innovation Centre of Excellence project for CPI in Renfrewshire this week with ground being broken. Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, and the UK Minister of State for Science, Lord Vallance, were both in attendance to witness the start of construction on the new facility. We’re providing multi-disciplinary services, including architecture, civil & structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering, BIM, process engineering, CDM, project management and sustainability, on this project which will be transformative for the UK’s manufacturing capabilities of life-saving oligonucleotide therapies, addressing growing global demand for these therapies. Due to be completed in 2026, the centre is located next to CPI’s existing Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, a project which we also delivered the design for. We’re looking forward to working with CPI, principal contractor, Tilbury Douglas, and the rest of the team to bring this game-changing facility to life. Congratulations to Adam Rodger from our Architecture team who won a silver medal 🥈 at the WorldSkills UK National Final for Digital Construction – an incredible achievement! WorldSkills provides young people with a platform to showcase their talent and pit themselves against their peers to compete for a chance to represent their country at the bi-annual WorldSkills Olympics. Taking place over two days, the National competition tested the eight finalists’ skills through a range of real-world tasks, including creating models, integrating models and clash detection. They also got the opportunity to meet Minister for Skills, Jacqui Smith. Adam said “It was a totally unreal experience, like nothing I have ever been to before. There was a level of buzz in the atmosphere that was great. When my name was called on the big screen and I had to walk down to accept my medal it was a very proud moment for me, it made all the hours of practice worth it. Being able to compete against hundreds of other skilled students and professionals to make it to the final, then to come out with a silver medal is truly one of my greatest achievements.” #design #engineering #projectdelivery #worldskills #skills #future #talent #BIM #digital #construction
