For LGBTQ+ History Month, we’re celebrating the iconic Rambert dancer and choreographer Lindsay Kemp. “Not only did Lindsay teach our founder Marie Rambert about the LGBTQ+ community but his choreography for Rambert explored what it meant to be a member of this community in the 1970’s to huge success with audiences and critics alike. I think it is so important to capture memories like Lindsay’s so they are preserved for future generations. Our Head of Archive, Daniel Albon, spoke at a workshop entitled 'Unveiling the Archives' at the National Theatre. The aim of this project is to make the histories of British South Asian theatre collections better known and more available. Daniel spoke about how diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do at Rambert and will be at the very centre of all our centenary celebrations. He spoke about the platforms we currently have in the Rambert Archive for all our users and how we are actively collecting oral histories to tell our full story. It was great to attend the Arts & Minds event this week at the Tate Modern — a brilliant campaign led by the National Education Union.   With curriculum reform underway, it's more important than ever to champion the arts in education. At the beginning of January, we launched our #EarlyMoves pilot in partnership with Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Over the first few days of launching, we trained 30 nursery practitioners across all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester to integrate dance into their nursery settings, supported by Arts Council England Place Partnership funding. We'll soon be sharing images and testimonials of the training days, so watch this space. The Prix Italia Award is in the house 🎉   Rambert’s Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby won the prestigious Prix Italia for TV Performing Arts back in September.    Inspired by the renowned television series created by Steven Knight, the production received high praise from the Prix Italia judges: “This outstanding production uniquely blends gripping storytelling with breathtaking choreography, immersing the audience in the complex world of Thomas Shelby and his family. Through innovative dance, the performance captures the emotional depth and moral dilemmas of its characters, while the striking visuals and haunting score enhance the overall experience. This production not only showcases exceptional talent but also redefines traditional storytelling, making it accessible and engaging for a diverse audience.”   Co-produced and filmed by North South , The Space (Digital Arts) and Birmingham Hippodrome, it was broadcast on BBC Four on New Year’s Day 2024 as part of a collaboration with BBC Arts and is still available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.   Want to see Peaky Blinders close up in 2025?
