Did you know some cats 'work?' 💼 We often have cats in our care who may be unsocialised or semi-feral with acute hunting skills that aren't best suited to a domestic home. We like to call them 'Working Cats', and this is where our Animal Partnerships Team steps in. 💪 The team looks for suitable rural homes, where these types of cats can come and go as they please in safe and secure environments such as: 🏡 Rural homes with outbuildings 🐴 Stables 🚜 Farms 🪴 Garden Centres Our team is currently looking to speak to potential owners with these types of spaces who would love to give one of our working cats a home. If this sounds like you, get in touch at WorkingCats@battersea.org.uk or call our team on 0207 6277886.

  • This World Spay Day, we're celebrating two years of Animal Action Greece's community cat care project. This project aims to reduce the population of free roaming cats on the islands, while improving their health and welfare. With our help, they have sterilised 4,171 cats across the Cycladic islands of Paros & Antiparos, including cats like Piccinni. After being cared for, Piccinni found a loving family to call home! 💙

  • This month, we launched a series of playful ads on Netflix showcasing the loveable personalities of the rescue animals we care for, linking each animal’s unique traits to different Netflix genres. The campaign highlights the expertise and time that we invests in getting to know each and every dog and cat that needs our support, demonstrating the love and care that sits behind our brand platform ‘We’re all in, for them’. • While we'll always focus on caring for animals at our three centres, helping animals beyond of our gates is an important part of our mission to be here for every dog and cat. 🐶🐱 Battersea was founded over 160 years ago, and in that time we've learnt a lot! Now, we want to do more for animals by sharing our knowledge, expertise and resources through our Academy programmes, our grants, and our animal partnerships. #WereAllInForThem Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eAfCbMDC

Did you know that, with the help of our supporters, we have worked with Government and key decision makers across the UK to go all in improve animal welfare policies for every dog and cat? A few of our recent campaigns include: 🐱Five Year Sentences for Animal Cruelty: we made history and helped change the law to increase maximum sentences for animal cruelty from six months to five years. 🏡 Pet Friendly Properties: we’ve campaigned to support more people to be able to enjoy the benefits of pet ownership in their rented homes. d Banning Shock Collars: we’re continuing to push for a ban on these collars, which are widely considered by animal behaviour experts to be both cruel and ineffective. Find out more about how we're going all in for them with animal welfare https://bit.ly/4199nBI #WereAllInForThem

  • The Renters’ Rights Bill has its Second Reading in the House of Lords next Tuesday, and we’ve been busy working with Peers to highlight the importance of supporting tenants with pets. Meet Ailish, a tenant who struggled to find accommodation that would allow her to keep Salem, her 10-year-old cat. She received constant rejections, with repeated suggestions that Ailish give up Salem to secure a tenancy, a request she firmly rejected. To help tenants and animals like Ailish and Salem, sign our pledge to help Battersea show that renters want and deserve to experience the joys of pet ownership 👉 https://bit.ly/40TdyTy
