The Biorenewables Development Centre at the University of York has achieved a remarkable first - developing a process to produce clean biohydrogen at demonstration scale while capturing carbon dioxide. Exciting times ahead as we join forces with ADAPTAVATE on its cutting edge £1million project backed by Innovate UK. Together, we're pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction by developing a climate-positive alternative to traditional plasterboard. During the 24-month project, we will establish a sustainable source for carbon-storing materials, enabling the creation of a cost-competitive, first-of-its-kind carbon-negative plasterboard. This innovative solution has the potential to revolutionise the wallboard industry and significantly reduce the construction sector's carbon footprint. Beyond optimising the production process, we will explore the end-of-life benefits of this technology, turning construction waste into valuable soil additives or repurposing it for further manufacturing use. Having already collaborated successfully with Adaptavate, we're delighted to continue this partnership. It's a practical approach to a big challenge: taking a basic building material that's used in nearly every construction project and using a bio-based solution to make it work for our planet. This groundbreaking facility demonstrates our region's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and circular economy principles. By converting organic waste into clean biohydrogen fuel, we're not only finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint but also create valuable resources from waste.

What a day! 🎥 As well as filming at our facilities near York, we had the privilege of spending Friday afternoon at the stunning Kilnsey Park Estate in the Yorkshire Dales. Alongside the University of York, it's great to be partnering with Kilnsey Park on another Innovate UK-funded project, this time looking at creating a sustainable, circular food production model. ♻️ A huge thanks to Lewis Adams for his tour of the estate and insights on camera.
