**Statement from the Black Health Initiative**
In light of the recent riots and acts of violence instigated by far-right groups, the Black Health Initiative stands firmly against all forms of racism, hate, and violence. Our communities have witnessed firsthand the destructive impact of such actions, and we want to make it clear: racism is not tolerated in any form, and there is no place in our society for discrimination, Islamophobia, or any sort of prejudice.
During this crisis, we urge our Black and brown communities to prioritize their safety while remaining vigilant. Here are some steps for staying safe:
1. **Stay Informed**: Keep updated on local news and community alerts to understand the situation in your area.
2. **Avoid Crowded Areas**: If protests escalate into violence, it is best to steer clear of such situations.
3. **Travel in Groups**: Whenever possible, go out with trusted friends or family members to ensure that you have support during any outings.
4. **Know Emergency Contacts**: Have important phone numbers saved and be familiar with nearby safe places, like community centers or police stations.
We call upon our white allies to speak up against these acts of hatred. Your voice is a critical part of the solution. It is essential that everyone in our broader community stands united, denouncing violence and bigotry while advocating for justice and equality.
Furthermore, workplaces must be aware of the increased anxiety and fear that ethnic minority employees may be experiencing during these tumultuous times. It is crucial for employers to be compassionate, understanding, and responsive to the mental health and well-being of all employees. Supporting one another is more important now than ever.
In these challenging times, let us come together, standing strong as a unified front against racism and hatred. Together, we can create a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
