Earlier this week, Triodos Bank announced its first private-sector loan tied to Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units, a pioneering move that could reshape how we finance nature-based solutions at scale. This innovative loan helps Nature Impact, our newest Blue Earth Ventures member, to restore nearly 120 acres of degraded farmland in the South East, turning it into thriving habitat for English wildlife. Why does this matter? Because it shows how the financial sector can lead the charge against biodiversity loss, boosting investor confidence and encouraging sustainable development. Nature Impact’s mission is to deliver off-site BNG units to developers, ensuring projects meet their legal obligations while restoring nature at the same time. Curious to learn more? Last week, Blue Earth hosted its second Impact Investing Forum, a two-day event at Protein STUDIOS in Shoreditch, connecting business solutions with impact investment. 📈 27 start-ups and scale-ups pitched to 200+ impact investors. 🤝 Over 800 meetings, with a collective goal of £138 million in funds raised. Key moments included pitches from UrbanChain and Reboxed® and discussions by Joelson | B Corp and Innovate UK on ESG alignment and communicating impact.
