🪸 Women Driving Change for Coral Reefs 🪸 At Blue Pangolin Consulting we are inspired by the incredible women shaping a sustainable blue future - especially #ForCoral. 🌍 During CBD COP16, women leaders took centre stage in advancing the coral reef agenda amidst an unprecedented global bleaching event. They introduced innovative #solutions, secured essential #funding, and highlighted the critical connections between coral reefs, #livelihoods, and resilient #communities. 🌊 BPC's Margaux, alongside #GFCR Nicole, reflected on these transformative moments in a blog for Leading Women for the Ocean #LWO. Their piece captures the bold action taken #ForCoral and explores the continued need to address the gender gap in environmental leadership. 📖 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/e7_axWik

🌊✨ Driving Action for Coral Reef Conservation ✨🌊 Earlier this year Margaux, Francis and Tom proudly supported the development of "A Guide for Integrating Coral Reefs into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs)" 🌍🐠 — in collaboration with Simon Harding. This essential guide helps countries prioritise #coralreefs in their biodiversity strategies, aligning efforts with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Why it matters: Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, supporting 25% of all known marine life, 🐟 fisheries, 🏝️ coastal protection, and 🌐 livelihoods for a billon people. Yet, they face growing threats that require #urgent, coordinated action. Since the release, the team has been actively supporting countries 🌍, including hosting an informal NBSAP roundtable at COP16 Colombia at the #ForCoral Pavilion. The event brought nations and organisations together 🤝 to better understand the #guide, share #experiences, and discuss the challenges coral reef nations face in integrating these ecosystems into their NBSAPs. 💡 To further illustrate the guide’s practical applications, three case studies were produced from French Overseas Territories 🇫🇷, Republic of Palau 🇵🇼 and Republic of Philippines 🇵🇭, showcasing how nations are #successfully incorporating coral reef conservation into their strategies.
