The public told us they weren’t happy about being charged to report crime through the 61016 text number… So we did something about it. In May, I contacted the four major phone networks in the UK, to ask they removed the charge, Three UK, Vodafone, O2 and EE all pledged to make this change, with the smaller networks starting to follow. BTP is proud to be the first emergency service to offer the public the ability to report crime through a text, it’s discreet and can be vital in solving crime and catching those offenders who operate across the rail network. Text 61016 to report crime but always call 999 if a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger. #BTP #Text61016 #Police #PoliceOfficer

Kate Green, Deputy Mayor of Great Manchester for Policing, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire, attended our County Lines operation in Manchester Piccadilly on Monday. Our officers, police dogs and plain-clothes officers were at the station, searching for drug dealers, drug users, and individuals seeking to exploit vulnerable children on the railway network. This operation aims to help the traveling public and communities feel safe on their journeys. #Police #PoliceDogs #CountyLines #BTP #ProudToProtect #Manchester #PoliceOfficer
