🛒 Gen Z & Millennials are the powerhouses behind Black Friday spending. Despite some scepticism—young shoppers are more likely to think Black Friday doesn’t save money—they continue to lead the charge. - 27% of Gen Z plan to buy gifts, 9pp higher than the UK average. - Both Millennials and Gen Z are waiting for Black Friday to snag specific items on their wish list, showing their strategic shopping tendencies. Here’s a recap of the latest maps, showcasing creativity, data, and geospatial insights from the past week: Day 16: Choropleth ☔ - Ben Larbalestier Using a choropleth map, Ben explored future rainfall patterns across the UK. By comparing Met Office climate projections (2050-2079) with recent observations (1991-2020), Ben revealed that most areas will see a 10-25% increase in precipitation, while some parts of Cornwall, Wales, and the Scottish Highlands may experience less rain. Full post here: https://lnkd.in/e7Wm8B6c Day 19: Typography 🖋️ - Kate McGoldrick Inspired by childhood adventures, Kate created a typography map of “Wild Cat Island” from Swallows and Amazons. A treasure map with a twist, it brings type to life while celebrating the nostalgic art of mapmaking. Full post here: https://lnkd.in/eQjwSAhG Day 20: OSM (OpenStreetMap) 🚨 - Jemma W. For World GIS Day, Jemma mapped defibrillator locations (AEDs) and ambulance stations across the UK using OpenStreetMap data. Full post here: https://lnkd.in/eSyJstTQ Day 22: Two Colours 🎄 - Ellie Brettell Christmas shopping habits take centre stage in this festive map!
