We wish you all a great end of year break and for 2025 to bring you happiness and success. As you may have seen in our November newsletter, this year we finally opened the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Sandwell, UK, to patients, staff and public. This is a project we have been working on for the last ten years, so we close the year full of pride and joy for having completed this important milestone. The British Architectural Library Trust is an independent American non-profit organisation founded in 2013 in support of the Library and Collections of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the foremost architectural library in the world. Midland Met NEW Photo Series: The Cushiony Winter Garden Roof   Introducing one of the standout features of Midland Metropolitan University Hospital – the stunning ETFE inflated pillow roof over the Winter Garden. This cost-effective transparent solution provides a unique, adaptable alternative to glass, reducing costs by a quarter while still delivering on design and functionality.   This modular, quilted ETFE enclosure shelters the Winter Garden, flooding the space with light and offering incredible views. Midland Met NEW Photo Series: The Winter Garden bridges   The internal bridges within the Winter Garden at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital are a striking example of how functional design can enhance a space. These prefabricated bridges, designed with modular components, seamlessly connect the building’s cores providing functional circulation and fire escapes while ensuring safety and accessibility.   What makes them truly special is their beautiful design.
