An unforgettable launch: our Impact in Focus series kicked off last night with a spotlight on the world of sports. A big thank you to our panellists and audience for helping us look into the challenges and opportunities surrounding the sector's impact on people and planet. A few key takeaways: ➡️ Useful collaboration relies on the sharing of practical, carbon-reduction initiatives ➡️ Climate communications around sport still requires a shake-up ➡️ Fan engagement and player advocacy is critical to achieving impact ➡️ Treat investment into climate reduction like a business case; proven short-term success will pave the way for long-term opportunity We look forward to more unfiltered conversations about net zero and the pragmatic steps organisations can adopt to bring about meaningful change. Watch this space for more Impact in Focus events, coming soon. #sustainability #carbonreporting #sustainablesport #netzero

Great to see our client’s engagement initiatives playing out in the wild 🏏 - with great success! Emily Iveson-Pritchard comments: “We do a lot already in terms of reducing our carbon footprint and we have a pledge to be net zero by 2030,” “This was more focused on engaging our guests and getting them to think about sustainability as well.” Bravo, Emily and the wider team at Surrey County Cricket Club. #surreycricket #sustainablesport

What are the next tangible actions that sports clubs are looking to take? The Founder of Football For Future, Elliot, made an interesting point on climate communication. He explains: “Football's greatest power to address climate crisis, is like nothing else on the planet. Social influence is where it really lies, and we need to see the biggest and most influential individuals and organisations in the world, many of which are in football, need to be a little bit more fearless when it comes to using their platform to talk about the realities of climate change. And be a little bit more creative with their storytelling around it as well.” We couldn’t agree more 👏 and we’re interested to see/hear/read our followers climate-related storytelling in the links. What governance is your ESG Team adhering to? Do you publicly showcase your sustainability efforts and carbon emissions disclosure? If we take sport as an example - there are various pledges, policies and carbon reporting guidance in play, for example: ➡️ United Nations Sport for Climate Action (https://lnkd.in/dsBWTCZ) ➡️ UK Sport Sustainability Strategy (https://lnkd.in/d5VXhm2S) ➡️ Science Based Targets initiative (https://lnkd.in/dJVDUU5W) Yet according to Sport Positive's 2023 report: - 7 premier league clubs have a sustainable transport policy - 6 clubs have net zero targets - 5 clubs are signatories of the UN Sport for Climate Action framework View the report here: https://lnkd.in/gw-_PJtt While carbon accounting can assist sports organisations on their path to sustainability, there needs to be a monumental shift in the number of sports clubs taking meaningful action. Please get in touch with us if you’re seeking to optimise your carbon reduction methods: https://lnkd.in/eWeWSwTP #CarbonAccounting #SustainableSport #FutureofSport

📈 Is net-zero is a strategic priority for your organisation? We’re unsurprised that accelerating carbon measurement is cited as best practice for organisations and industry bodies. Yet while 73% of organisations are prioritising net zero; over half face challenges in setting and delivering net-zero targets such as: - six in ten businesses cited high upfront costs over the next 12 months - 56% of large businesses, 49% of SMEs cited outdated infrastructure - 52% of all businesses named the availability of finance - 54% of SMEs and 49% of large businesses stated a lack of time - 51% SMES and 48% of large businesses cited a lack of expertise Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/efiDJsnh With our advanced data tools and expert team, we support clients from audit to action and back again. Drop us a line if you’re faced with those barriers listed above - we’ll be able to help in some way: https://lnkd.in/eWeWSwTP #netzero #carbonmeasurement #sustainability
