Can #sustainability be a strategic advantage? During a recent panel at #ImpactWeek in Barcelona, on November 7th, we discussed the growing importance of product-level #carbonemissions transparency in global #supplychains. Alcoa, one of the world’s largest #aluminum producers, shared valuable insights into how sustainability and supply chain transparency can be a competitive advantage. Shelley Ranii, Director of Global Marketing at Alcoa, explained how their vertically integrated model and low-carbon position from mine-to-metal allows them to deliver lower-carbon products to customers. Additionally, Adam Hearne, CEO and Co-founder of CarbonChain, emphasized that the market must "vote" for lower-carbon products through purchasing decisions. By creating more transparency and clearer buying signals, manufacturers can build the business case necessary to invest in the technology required to produce lower-carbon products.
