New or Renew? A Global Debate on Building Reuse At the heart of sustainable construction lies a pressing question: Do we build new, or do we renew what we already have? A recent article by Construction News explores this pivotal debate, highlighting how reusing existing structures can be an impactful way to reduce carbon emissions, conserve resources, and support communities. The Considerate Constructors Scheme encourages all members to engage in these discussions, to question traditional approaches, and to seek out innovative ways to preserve our planet. By choosing to repurpose and adapt, we not only honor the past but also build a sustainable legacy for future generations. Join us in championing a construction industry that’s mindful of both progress and preservation. Let’s lead the way in creating spaces that respect our environment while meeting the needs of tomorrow. https://lnkd.in/eX_3TEdd #SustainableConstruction #BuildingReuse #CCS #ConsiderateConstructors #NetZero

Raising Standards, Building Trust.
About us
The Considerate Constructors Scheme works with the construction industry and the public to raise standards and build trust in construction. We are a not-for-profit, independently managed organisation. To help constructors improve their behaviours, we have created the Code of Considerate Practice which focuses on three key areas: Respecting the community; Caring for the environment; Valuing the workforce. Those registered with us make a commitment to conform to the Code and work to raise their standards above and beyond it. Whether you are a member of the public with a concern about construction activity, a contractor or supplier wanting to register your construction activity to raise your standards, or a construction client who would like your projects to register with us, we are here to help. Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. The Scheme's main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment. Visit our website to find out more or email enquiries@ccscheme.org.uk

November is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month; While women are more likely to be diagnosed with common mental disorders than men, this doesn’t mean that men don’t struggle with their mental health; no where is this more true than in the construction industry. - 12.5% of men in England have a mental health disorder. - 3 times more men are likely to die by suicide in England than females. - Almost double the rate of men die from alcohol-specific causes than women. We've highlighted this important issue with our Spotlight On Mental Health: https://lnkd.in/eM6-naPE #mentalhealth #mensmentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawareness #movember
