November has been a busy month for the Constructing Excellence Team with lots of theme group meetings, a reinvigoration of our National Members Steering Group, and of course our awards. We are also delighted to welcome our newest member Pagabo. The Procurement group were delighted to be joined by Dr Bola Abisogun OBE (Hon DUniv, Hon MBA) to discuss the digital requirements of the Building Safety Act on procurement – under the expert leadership of Dr Rebecca Rees this group will be focussing on the Building Safety Act in 2025. The Offsite Manufacturing & Technology Group had a similar focus with a look at how the requirements of the Act and changes in building control will impact manufacturers and potentially make MMC a more attractive solution - great leadership from Alex Small and input from Phil Henry, Jim Cowell, Andrew Crooks. The Performance Measurement Group are developing a white paper on the benefits of performance measurement, get in touch with the chair Simon Cross if you want to find out more. Rachel Heaton from GS1 gave us great insight into how bar code technology is enabling digital construction. We also held our first joint roundtable with Construction Clients' Leadership Group - great to work with Gary O'Brien, MCIOB and Sameer Pethe - expect some outputs soon. I’m delighted that two organisations CHIC Ltd and LHC Procurement Group have achieved Constructing the Gold Standard Verification, this is a signal to clients and supply chain that these organisations have the processes and systems in place to enable best practice procurement. Now we have five organisations fully verified and more in the pipeline we are turning our attention to best practice and knowledge sharing with Professor David Mosey CBE. A huge thank you to all of you who joined us for the CE National Awards on 15 November, a brilliant evening that showcased how excellence is being implemented on projects large and small. A huge thanks to our sponsors NACF and BRE Academy and Catriona Lingwood, Chelsea Corbett, Leanne Conaway Sophie Bloye and Antoinette Campbell their excellent organisation. Of course a huge thank you to all of the winners, we look forward to working with you to help share how they achieved such success. It was wonderful to be joined by Polly Wilkinson, Phil Wilbraham, David Whysall, Vince Lydon, Jack Cook, Peter McDermott, Steve Williams and Alex Small We would be ready for a quiet December, but with a packed diary and prep underway for our annual conference on 29 January there is no rest for the wicked!
