This week is #livingwageweek, and we at County Insurance Services Ltd are proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer - and have also recently become a #livingpension employer too - the first UK General Insurance broker to do so! We are committed to looking after our staff both now and in later life, by paying the only independently calculated UK wage rate solely based on the actual cost of living. This is higher than the Government's "National Living Wage", and has recently risen to £12.60 per hour outside of London and £13.85 in London. Did you know that half of the FTSE 100 are Living Wage employers and 94% of Living Wage employers have reported that their business has benefitted from paying the real Living Wage? - 87% say it improved their reputation - 66% say it helped them differentiate from others in their industry - 90% of consumers were more likely to buy a product or service from an employer who pays their staff the real Living Wage. - 60% said it improved retention of existing employees and recruitment of new employees into their business. 93% of University students want to work for an accredited Living Wage employer. - Over half of employers said paying a real Living Wage has improved the quality of applications for jobs. - Investors want to see employers be more socially responsible. 85% of investors stated that investment in employees is an important factor in their decision-making, with 62% saying this is specifically the case for Living Wage Employer accreditation. The team was delighted to host some of our clients at Wilstead Museum this week, with our friends from Victor Insurance UK. We had a wonderful time reminiscing about the vintage tractors and marvelling at the array of memorabilia. Thank you to Darren for kindly allowing us access to his collection #farminsurance #farminsurancebroker #vintagetractor #tractor #johndeere #masseyferguson #farm #tractors #oldtractor #farmlife #vintage #tractorlife

We are proud members of BIBA (the British Insurance Brokers' Association), which represents the interests of #insurancebrokers all over the country. They have recently written an article for the New Statesman about how brokers are a fundamental part of the local and national #economy. Sample quote: "It’s not hyperbole to say the UK leads the world when it comes to insurance. Our insurance industry provides employment to over 300,000 people in well paid high-skilled jobs across the country, with two thirds of these jobs outside of London and our broking sector generated £23bn of revenue last year across 3,809 businesses." Definite food for thought here. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this matter, and how it could affect you, in more detail. #terrorism #businessinsurance #eventinsurance #propertyinsurance
Following the dreadful terror attack at Manchester Arena in 2017, a new law is making its way through Parliament, which will affect anyone that owns, runs or operates an #event space, venue, arena etc. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, more commonly known as Martyn's Law (in memory of Martyn Hett, who was killed in the above-mentioned attack), will bring in new responsibilities regarding #riskassessments and the like, specifically relating to #terrorism, e.g. documenting how to evacuate the building safely, where to move people to safety if evacuation is not an option etc. Whilst it is not law yet, and the finer details have not been finalised, this article from Insurance Age outlines the basic requirements, and why clients and brokers should be working together to prepare for this. If you own or operate an event space which can hold at least 200 people, this law WILL affect you. Terrorism cover is available, either as an add-on to an existing Property policy, or on a stand-alone basis. Please contact your usual insurance adviser to discuss this further. #businessinsurance #propertyinsurance

We recently had our Corporate Chartered #InsuranceBroker status renewed by the Chartered Insurance Institute. Renewal is not automatic. The CII carry out a number of checks beforehand, and have the final say in whether or not a firm is deserving of keeping their Chartered status. We were absolutely delighted to receive the following glowing testimonial from them: "We are delighted that your organisation continues to be at the forefront of our profession, evident from your ongoing commitments to uphold the highest professional standards and engage in continuous professional development. It is these qualities that we believe build trust and confidence among consumers, and we are pleased to be able to renew your status. Maintaining Corporate Chartered status is necessarily challenging, reflecting a public declaration to provide professional advice of the high quality, based solely on the needs of each individual customer. It is clear that your firm understands the significance of these commitments and it is evident that they are being met." #professionalstandards #highqualityadvice #meetingcustomerneeds #insuranceprofessionals
