Fabric, our five-month, informal peer-learning programme, is back! 💡💚 We’re so excited to be on this learning journey again with the support of Dundee Changemakers Hub, and joined by a wonderful group of creative practitioners and community organisers. Exploring how collective action can shape a better tomorrow, Fabric aims to give participants the knowledge, skills, confidence and connections to fuel future work or projects. At our first session titled ‘Play & Collective Imagination’, the group gathered at Hapworks_00 to embark on a day of inspiring talks, playful activities, and collaborative discussions. James Morwood reflects on his experience of the day and shares more about the first session in a new blog: https://lnkd.in/e2ZkdZ8c

Dundee City Council recently shared news of a proposed budget consultation in Dundee, listing 25 proposals to either reduce or remove funding or financial support to Dundee City Council services, and to many community and cultural organisations who work in partnership with DCC. These include UNESCO City of Design Dundee, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre Limited, Dundee Heritage Trust, and Dundee Science Centre. Dundee residents are now being asked for their say on these proposed cuts. We are joining the calls for support and encourage you to act now and help secure the city’s cultural future. We’ve shared some further thoughts on the proposed cuts and what it will mean for Dundee over on our website, alongside a list of actions you can take to help support these invaluable organisations. Read more and share: https://lnkd.in/e_tpBm9p --- As an organisation which champions the role of culture and creativity in our everyday lives, we feel it’s important to highlight that culture is a fundamental human right. Cultural engagement shapes and positively impacts our lives, and it is an essential component in achieving the ambitions of our place and communities. Strength to our friends and partners across the city, and all those having to turn their full attention to the consultation at an already challenging time of year.

’Tis the season to #ShopLocal and, as ever, it’s the perfect opportunity to support independent makers and businesses in whatever way we’re able to. Just in time for Dundee’s festive markets, we’ve gathered together some local makers to share their products and who they think would love to receive them as a gift. We’ve also asked each maker to ‘pass the mic’ and give a recommendation or two for other makers to shop with, helping to spread the love! 🎁 ❤️ Featuring: Christina Vernon, Freya Allan, Ele Roscoe GMBPsS, Dan Faichney & Holy Snakes, Lyndsey Currie, Zsofia Jakab, Erin Tosh, Genna Delaney, & Kerrie Alexander!
