  • Since its launch in 2017, Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD), a flagship campaign of Alzheimer's Society, has united the insurance sector in an extraordinary way. Together, the industry has raised a staggering £10 million to fund groundbreaking dementia research and essential support services. However, IUAD’s impact goes beyond fundraising. It has also driven understanding and industry change - fostering greater awareness and a more inclusive environment for employees, clients and customers affected by dementia. Now, IUAD is setting its sights on a bold new goal of raising another £10 million to revolutionise the dementia landscape. With significant breakthroughs in treatment emerging and an urgent need for continued investment, the campaign will continue to harness the influence of the insurance industry to create lasting impact. At this pivotal moment, IUAD is seeking a new Chair, a pro bono leadership role that will be instrumental in shaping and driving the campaign’s success. The Chair will: • Leverage industry connections to drive fundraising and awareness • Influence key stakeholders to support IUAD’s mission • Ensure fundraising targets are met, maximising IUAD’s impact IUAD are looking for a senior leader within (or closely associated with) the insurance sector who also has a personal or professional connection to the dementia cause. This is a unique opportunity to lead an industry wide movement and make a tangible difference in the fight against dementia. At Damhurst & Co, we are committed to offering our expertise in a pro bono capacity to initiatives that truly matter. We are proud to be leading the search for IUAD’s next Chair and to support this vital cause.   If this sounds like an opportunity for you, or someone in your network, please reach out to Simon Beale sbeale@damhurst.com or Sophie Long slong@damhurst.com

  • A lot of the work we do at Damhurst & Co is about transformation: finding the right leaders, shaping governance and supporting transitions to create meaningful change for our clients.   As we head into 2025, it’s time for our own transformation. Over the coming months, you might notice some changes as we prepare to introduce an updated look and feel to Damhurst.   While the design may be new, what won’t change is the expertise, discretion and tenacity you’ve come to expect from us.    Watch this space!

  • At Damhurst & Co, it’s more than just taking a brief; it’s about partnership - listening, questioning and helping organisations see beyond the obvious to uncover opportunities they may not have considered.    In short, it’s not just about the search, it’s about understanding our clients’ strategic future and finding the leaders they need to achieve it.   In recent months, we’ve taken the same approach with ourselves, rethinking how we convey our purpose, values and expertise. While the way we present ourselves will start to evolve in 2025, our commitment to providing executive search services for the insurance market remains as strong as ever.

  • As we approach the end of the year, we’ve been reflecting on how Damhurst & Co has grown since 2016. From the clients we’ve partnered with to the challenges we’ve helped navigate, we’ve always been driven by one purpose: to provide an executive search service that helps organisations thrive. With that growth has come an opportunity to evolve. Behind the scenes, we’ve been refining how we communicate who we are and what we do, ensuring it reflects the value we bring to our clients every day. More to come in the new year, but for now, thank you to all our friends, colleagues and clients who have supported us along the way.

  • Last month, a group of us tackled the 100 mile Coast to Coast Rat Race Adventure Sports in Scotland. Battling rain, wind and tough terrain, we completed the challenge in memory of our friend Jacob Whitehead, raising funds for Brain Tumour Research. We’re pleased to share an account written by Damhurst & Co’s James Cooper who reflects on the highs and lows of the journey, the motivation that kept us going and the impact of the donations received. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e4jcV2Ug Thank you to everyone who supported us - your generosity raised over £6,000 for this worthy cause! • Earlier this month, some of our team had the privilege of attending an enlightening evening with historian David O., who presented on Reclaiming History: Untold Stories of Britain's Diverse Heritage as part of Black History Month.   Hosted by BMS Group and organised by Tokio Marine Kiln, Markel, CNA Hardy, Equity City and iCAN Apply - The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network Jobs Board, the event highlighted this month as an opportunity to honour the immense contributions of the black community to British history.   David emphasised the importance of raising awareness about the deeply ingrained unconscious biases in our culture and the need to deconstruct these barriers to create a more progressive society.   A special thanks to Damhurst & Co's Erin Taylor and Olivia Collie for attending this impactful event!

  • Damhurst & Co recently had the pleasure of hosting our latest CRO breakfast roundtable in collaboration with Sicsic Advisory, focusing on the transition from CRO to non-executive roles. The path from CRO to board-level roles can be challenging, but the rewards are well worth the effort.   Earlier this month, we hosted another of our quarterly breakfast roundtables with Sicsic Advisory, discussing the progression of CROs to non-executive roles. We were fortunate to hear from a former CRO who successfully transitioned to a portfolio NED career, providing invaluable insights into the steps needed to secure a board seat.   In my latest article, I explore the evolution of the CRO role, the importance of strategic thinking, and the need to build strong relationships with non-executives. Whether you’re looking to advance your own career or simply interested in how CROs can play a greater role in shaping business strategy, I hope you find the discussion insightful.   Read more in my latest LinkedIn article. If you’re considering a move from a career as a CRO to a NED, or would like to join future roundtables, please feel free to reach out.
