The Veterans Work collaboration (Deloitte, Forces Employment Charity and Forces in Mind Trust, supported by The Drive Project) surveyed over 1,400 veterans and employers, to reflect on the many positive changes that have been made in veteran employment and assess what still needs to be done to improve the veteran employment experience.   Veterans Work: Then and Now, out today, has found that: ✅ Veterans excel in three skills that employers believe are crucial for the future of work: planning and organisation, problem-solving and adaptability, and teamwork.     ✅ Even with advancements in AI, employers recognise that human skills like empathy and teamwork remain crucial for business success, and veterans excel in these areas.   Neil 'Jacko' Jackson, Director DRM, said: “DRM is proud to support the collaboration between Deloitte, The Forces Employment Charity, Forces in Mind Trust, and The Drive Project in the creation of the latest Veterans Work report. The Veterans Work: Then and Now report offers valuable insights into the employment experiences of veterans and highlights opportunities for the future. It gives me huge pride to introduce the latest report in our Veterans Work thought leadership series – Veterans Work: Then and Now.       This new report provides a timely snapshot of veteran employment in the UK, drawing on insights from over 900 veterans and 500 employers. It highlights the positive strides made in supporting veterans entering the workforce and identifies the remaining challenges in ensuring a smooth transition from military service to civilian employment.       Veterans are bringing their sought-after skills to the private sector, driving success in industries such as cyber, security, and renewable energy. Their military experience translates into invaluable expertise, making them essential contributors to these growing economic sectors.       However, UK businesses must be bolder in tapping into what is a talented and underused national resource.
