New reforms will make sure online giants pay their fair share for electrical waste. Every year, 100,000 tonnes of household electricals are binned. We’re introducing changes that will make sure online marketplaces and vape producers pay their fair share towards the cost of recycling waste electricals such as toasters, vapes and hair curlers. The changes will help fund recycling services, ensure UK-based retailers are no longer operating at a disadvantage, and support wider actions to tackle waste, fly-tipping and the throwaway society.
