Big Odyssey news! We’re unveiling Explorer, a generative world model. Explorer transforms text or an image into a realized, detailed 3D world. I'm also incredibly excited that Ed Catmull, the legendary Pixar founder, is joining our board and investing. Ed co-founded Pixar with the belief that the story must shape the technology—not the reverse. They took the hard road, pioneering new technologies to enable stories thought impossible. In Pixar's case, they pioneered computer graphics. For us, it's generative world models. World models, alongside language, image, and video, are now a key AI frontier, but they're the least explored. Imagine worlds that build themselves, that feel indistinguishable from reality, where new stories are created and remixed, and where human and machine intelligence interact. Enter Explorer—our first generative world model, and the start of this epic journey. Explorer is an image-to-world model that transforms an image into a detailed 3D world. Explorer is particularly tuned for photorealistic worlds, with this proving a key strength. Our world is constantly in motion, and Explorer’s worlds should be no different. Although earlier in research, generative world motion, all in 3D, holds super exciting promise to enable artists to generate and manipulate motion in new and more realistic ways. A world generated with Explorer is output as a gaussian splat. Many of the top vision researchers in the world have turned their attention towards splats, and it's easy to see why. Splats can represent 3D scenes with almost imperceptibly real detail. Representing worlds as splats also means artists can natively edit them in a growing list of creative tools. Unreal, Houdini, Blender, Maya, 3D Studio Max, After Effects, and more now support splats. Artists with early Explorer access have used these tools for incredible things! Generative world models could accelerate the creation of film and gaming-compatible worlds. To test this, we visited Garden Studios in London. We beamed Explorer-generated worlds onto a SOTA virtual production stage, used for high-end film. The conclusion: they worked, and looked incredible! We're now opening up access to Explorer more broadly. If you're eager to explore generative world models with us, and to collaborate closely, we want to hear from you ASAP. Head over to our site to apply, and we'll be in touch. Explorer is our starting point, and one we're really, really proud of. Generative world models have a long road ahead, but the promise is vast. A brand new medium is being created as we speak! Let's together pioneer generative world models and what they enable you to create 🫡 I still can't quite believe we have the opportunity to partner with and learn from Ed Catmull. We're beyond excited You can learn a whole lot more about Explorer, generative world models, and our partnership with Ed in the link in the comments.

It's been amazing to support The Emotional Health Hub with their vision & to see this project shape up!
This R&D phase with DreamLab has focused on creating the most empathic environment for children. We’ve been exploring how to apply authentic human movements and facial expressions to our stylized characters, who guide children through their experience in our interactive emotional health tool. Drawing on ideas from our co-creation sessions with children and professionals, we began testing at dock10's virtual production and performance capture studio in MediaCityUK, where actor Sophie Stewart helped us trial movements for a cute new character, suggested by the children to boost engagement. With those insights, we tweaked our script ready for our final recordings. Our aim is to provide an engaging, child-friendly experience that uses AI tools to streamline what might otherwise be a costly animation process. This approach will allow us to make updates more efficiently, keeping the tool accessible and flexible while helping children explore their feelings and develop strategies for life. We recorded the final performances at the DreamLab, using Rokoko headsets and Epic Games' Metahuman Animiator on iPhones to capture facial movements. And, after testing several options, settled on DeepMotion to process body movements and for the app's metahumans. This phase has not been without its challenges, and reminding ourselves that R&D is all about trial and error has been key. A huge thank you to our programmer, Luke at Sigtrap, whose dedication and problem-solving skills have been the backbone of this project. A big thanks to Arpana Nandakumar, David Afolabi and Christian G H Frost for helping us explore the AI motion capture options and supporting our final recordings. And to Ryan Parker for stepping in at the last minute to help us overcome numerous technical challenges and get things over the line! #MotionCapture #InnovationAccelerators #MentalHealthTech #EdTech #ChildMentalHealth #Gamification #TechForGood DreamLab MediaCity Immersive Technologies Innovation Hub Greater Manchester Business Board (LEP) Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Dear friends, I’m so excited to introduce Living Encyclopedia: Large Nature Model (LNM)—an AI-powered platform of DATALAND that reimagines the traditional concept of an encyclopedia by transforming vast nature-based datasets into immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Powered by cutting-edge AI and new epic Image Diffusion AI research collaboration Black Forest Labs LNM connects us to the beauty and complexity of the natural world in ways that feel dynamic and alive. Instead of presenting static information, LNM offers an evolving space for exploration, where knowledge is experienced through generative text, visuals, and sound. This marks a groundbreaking step forward in how we engage with data—an experience that invites curiosity, reflection, and wonder. The Living Encyclopedia offers three modes of interaction. In Research Mode, you can dive into detailed ecosystems, explore real-time weather simulations, and engage with environmental data. In Create Mode, you can generate scientifically accurate images of flora, fauna, and fungi based on text prompts. Imagine if you had your own assistant to help you learn new software? As a creative technologist/developer, my life is spent quickly adapting and learning new things..... Often I know what I want to do, but don't know what menu the options are in, or what something is called in a different platform. That can be incredibly frustrating: Time spent searching forums, trawling through videos to find out stuff. Even if you ask text prompt AI for help, it often lacks the visual context that can be hard to explain in words. Well... I am absolutely blown away by the Multimodal Live API/Realtime features that Google released a few days ago with Gemini 2.0 Here's a example of me using it to assist me with Logic (its been a while!). + the 'in progress' track it helped me to create in a few evenings. Deffo needs work and cleaning up 😜 Am totally gobsmacked and blown away by this....... a real gamechanger for learning and thinking about the future of less frictional interfaces. Exciting times. #ai #creativeai #google #multimodal #learning #logicpro #software #interfaces #creativetech

Hey everyone! I’m on a journey to establish an AI Creative Studio, with a strong focus on Pre-Vis. Currently, I’m focused on building AI workflows, AI pipeline, folder sturctures and advanced integration with 3D to achieve one clear goal: Maximum control over camera and motion within the AI shot! Here’s a quick experiment I ran — 20 minutes compressed into 2 minutes —creating cinematic shots of an Audi A8 in 3D, rendered with Runway. Why does this change the game for Pre-Vis? ✅ Full control over camera and object movement. ✅ Super-fast exploration of countless creative directions. ✅ High-quality rendering in record time. SO.... Calling all 3D artists (Modeling, layout, animation), compositors, and COMFYUI pros! Want to join my next experiment? A moving car in the city, shot from multiple angles — reach out and let’s see how far we can push this together! 🎥 Enjoy the video!
