This week, we were thrilled to host a YES Project day in our London offices with our #charity partner, the East End Community Foundation. The YES Project provides young people with support in developing their employability and soft skills, with the aim of helping them move into secure work.   The day was packed with activities, including educational sessions discussing imposter syndrome, CVs, cover letters, interview tips and how to dress for success. The day also included mock interviews, networking opportunities and talks from different Pool Re department representatives on their team functions and personal career paths.   A huge thank you to all who attended, and to HFG Insurance Recruitment, Beam Development and Training, Smart Works Charity and Suited & Booted, who joined us to help deliver sessions. It was a wonderful day, and Pool Re is proud to support the EECF.

As January continues to bring cold and challenging weather, we remain committed to ensuring vulnerable older residents in the East End receive the support they need. We’re delighted to share that we’ve now hit our target of distributing 1,500 winter care packages, bringing warmth and comfort to those who need it most. Whilst the packing efforts concluded in December, our work hasn’t stopped. Throughout January, we’ve been collaborating with our trusted community groups to deliver the final care packages, providing much needed support to older individuals across our community. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this campaign—whether by volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word. Earlier this month, BPL teamed up with East End Community Foundation (EECF) for their 2024 Winter Appeal, aiming to raise £50,000 to support 1,000 vulnerable older residents with essentials like warm clothing, blankets and food. A huge shoutout to our colleagues Anna Morgan, Sylvia Chmarzynska, Jason Choo Foo, Janneke Rodenburg and Matt Graham, who packed hundreds of winter care packages at EECF’s offices. These packages will bring warmth, comfort and hope during the challenging winter months. BPL has proudly supported EECF since 2021 and recently reinforced our commitment by donating £120,000 to their Life Chances campaign over three years.
