Great to see Caddick Construction Limited are cracking on well with works on Hull City Council’s Dane Park scheme! Only a few days were lost to the winter weather. The project is all on programme with construction works at various stages and phases all around the site.   Roof trusses should be installed on the first few plots later this week and in other areas foundation works are 90% complete. The scheme comprises 20 one-bedroom, 49 two-bedroom, 20 three-bedroom and 10 four-bedroom homes, all of which will be available for affordable rent. All homes will have Air Source Heat Pumps and Photovoltaic roof panels, and some will have EV charging points. Caddick was appointed to the project via a Direct Selection under our New Build Framework. Our technical team have been heavily involved in the pre-contract stage, undertaking a detailed design and constraints exercise, costs and buildability. The design was influenced by constraints parameters identified, with a bespoke suite of house types and innovative SUDS solution to ensure a cost-effective and deliverable layout was submitted for planning. We’re beyond thrilled to see the 19th Doncaster Askern scouts group hut is now re-opened thanks to the combined efforts of EN:Procure framework contractors after it was wrecked by vandalism and theft last autumn. Massive thank you and shout out to Denton Nickels Mark Denton R.H. Fullwood & Co Guy Fullwood DSR DEMOLITION LIMITED and Yorkshire Choice Homes Ltd Homes who: ·       repaired ceilings ·       did substantial rewiring, ·       installed a new electrical heating system ·       installed an emergency lighting scheme ·       repaired three bathrooms ·       fitted fresh carpets throughout ·       installed security doors ·       installed a new access road and external surfaces ·       installed security gates and fencing ·       and updated signage And to Allerton Damp Proofing who contributed £8,000 worth of funding to cover the replacement of camping equipment that was stolen or damaged, which we rounded up to £10,000. 🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉 We hope everyone has had a good festive break and chance to rest and unwind. We’re excited to be back and get 2025 well and truly started. We have so much to look forward to working with our membership, frameworks suppliers, host employers and training providers to support people living in local communities across the North. This will be the first full year our team will be equipped with all the coaching skills we’ve gained through working with Ambito Partners on our EN:Lighten programme - a lynchpin element driving the success of our 2023-2026 Good to Great business strategy. EN:Procure will be welcoming consultants on to their latest Gen-4 Consultancy Framework, adding to their suite of Gen-4 frameworks for installations, repairs, maintenance and new build housing. The Housing Ombudsman will be unveiling their Repairing Trust report which EN:Procure frameworks contractors contributed their experience and knowledge. Watch this space to register for a special EN:Connect webinar session on the report in spring. EN:Able Futures will build on their phenomenal major award wins last year recognising excellence in apprenticeships to open more doors for more young people to build their futures in the built environment. They’ll continue working with NHBC at the Training Hub in Hull and as founding members of the Built Environment Shared Apprenticeship Service known as BESAS and also with Riverlution to deliver land-based and environmental flexi-job apprenticeships. EN:Able Build Limited will be brokering more land development deals to add to the over 800 new affordable homes currently in planning and pre-construction and hundreds already built. EN:Able Communities will be launching the new GSAP Yorkshire and Humber forum for Retrofit Skills development to support delivery of Net Zero objectives for warmer homes in our region following the success of the Y&H Retrofit Skills Growth Summit last year. £140M Investment: A game-changer for Britain’s construction skills crisis. As part of the initiative “to get Britain building again”, the Labour government has just announced a £140 million investment to create 5,000 additional construction apprenticeships per year in England. The announcement lands at a critical moment for the built environment, as it continues to battle with a severe skills shortage. With plans to build 1.5 million homes and boost infrastructure over the next five years, an estimated 50,300 more workers are needed annually to meet the demand. Our chief executive Lee Parkinson MCIPS MIoD FRSA shared his thoughts on the announcement with Building Design & Construction - BDC today He said: “We welcome the Labour government’s ambitions and drive to advance the country’s housebuilding mission. At EN:Able Futures, we have been championing apprenticeships for more than ten years, and this new investment is a step forward in providing more young people with a foot on the career ladder.
