Does anyone else feel less safe in the evenings since the clocks went back? With the time change last weekend, the sun is now setting at 4:33pm In just a few days, I’ve already found myself: - Cancelling evening plans - Taking Ubers instead of walking in the dark (while trying not to overthink that I’m in a stranger’s car) - Feeling increased anxiety when I’m out past 5pm Last week, a clip from the Graham Norton Show went viral Self-defence techniques laughed off as a joke by male guests until actor Saoirse Ronan pointed out: ‘That’s what girls have to think about all the time’ Followed by an awkward pause … and that silence speaks volumes. The reality is that most men have never considered how unsafe many women (and other marginalised groups) feel on a daily basis Never considered all the precautions we have to take to simply feel safe enough to leave the house Every evening walk is filled with mental checklists: - Hold keys between fingers - Change routes to only use well-lit streets, avoiding all parks - Wear flat shoes, just in case we need to run - Check over shoulder every few seconds - Share live location with friends and family I could go on… And yet, if anything does happens, it is still so often the victim that gets blamed ‘She shouldn’t have been wearing that’ ‘She shouldn’t have had headphones in’ ‘She shouldn’t have been out alone’ I’m lucky to work for myself so I can change my daily schedule to feel safer But what about those who have no choice but to commute when it’s already dark? Creating a safe, inclusive workplace goes beyond the office walls Offering flexible working schedules can help those who feel vulnerable during darker hours Also, big shout out to the amazing startups that are focused on female safety in public places like WalkSafe (Emma) and Epowar (E-J) With 1 in 2 women feeling unsafe walking alone after dark… Isn’t it time we rethink turning the clocks back each year? — 👋 Hi, I’m Molly, founder of Impactic - a social enterprise that runs skilled volunteering events for corporate teams ✨ Follow me for content on female founder life, volunteering & social impact goodness

Saoirse Ronan’s viral moment reminds all of us of the reality of how women experience a lack of safety on a daily basis. Our core mission at eNOugh has always been to change exactly that – to create a solution that can make a real difference and positively impact the lives of everyone who doesn’t feel safe. That’s precisely why we’ve developed our AI Protection Badge. Pre-order yours now to secure an exclusive deal before they’re sold out! Saoirse Ronan Just Said What Every Woman Feels 👏🏼 During a recent Graham Norton episode, self-defence became the topic of conversation. Saoirse Ronan magnificently cut through the humour to highlight the harsh reality women face daily. When Eddie Redmayne mentioned using a smartphone to defend oneself, Paul Mescal joked, “Who’s actually going to think about that?”—prompting laughs from the men on stage. Ronan tried to jump in, and you can see her saying it was actually a good idea, but after being spoken over twice, she made it clear. “That’s what girls have to think about all the time.” The conversation might be a light-hearted joke for some but it is the everyday reality for EVERY woman. Let’s just look at the facts. • Half of all women feel unsafe walking alone in their own neighbourhoods after dark. For men? Just one in seven. • In busy public places, one in two women feel uneasy alone at night. Only one in five men feel the same. • Four in five women feel vulnerable walking alone in a park after dark, compared to just two in five men. • Two-thirds of young women (16-34) experience harassment each year, with almost half dealing with catcalls or unwanted sexual remarks. • Over half of all women are afraid of being physically attacked while out running—compared to 28% of men. Thank you for speaking up Saoirse 👏🏼 🇮🇪 🎥: @thegrahamnortonshowofficial

She said what every woman feels! When Saoirse Ronan responded to a self-defence joke on The Graham Norton Show, her words laid bare women's constant safety concerns. The silence from the male host and guests spoke volumes. Her words are a powerful reminder of women's daily vigilance, especially as the nights get darker and safety concerns increase. It's great to see someone using their platform and position of influence to speak up for all women. 👏 #SaoirseRonan #WomensSafety
