  • Last year, the head of EPR’s Manchester studio David Sparks, joined a group of design experts at x+why’s Manchester outpost for Mix Interiors’ latest roundtable discussion on sustainability. Chaired by Mix Interiors Deputy Editor Chloé Petersen Snell the thought-provoking conversation centred around the question – is it enough to just design sustainably? As the panel explored the need for a shift from maintaining the status quo to actively improving and healing our ecosystems, David noted that ‘doing less bad to actively doing good is a fairly major mindset shift’, underlining the crucial role designers need to play in driving this change. As the discussion moved towards regenerative design, David highlighted that this transformative approach requires granular research and tailored solutions for local challenges. He emphasised that regenerative design should focus on addressing specific local needs with innovations that are both contextually relevant and sustainable. A huge thank you to Mix Interiors for providing a platform to explore these important issues and for fostering such an engaging dialogue. • We are pleased to announce that EPR Design Director Pascal Wensink will be joining the NLA London Expert Panel for High Streets, working alongside industry heavyweights to examine the evolving landscape of London’s retail and hospitality sectors. With rising rents, technological advancements and changing consumer expectations reshaping the capital’s high streets, there is a growing demand for experiential, community-focused destinations that foster engagement with London’s retail and hospitality offerings. The panel will explore how placemaking strategies, partnerships and governance can revitalise the industry, focusing on how flexible mixed-use developments and ‘meanwhile’ uses drive footfall as well as the impact of regulatory changes on the sector. With his experience leading the Ram Quarter regeneration project - which successfully preserved the site’s brewery heritage while creating a new urban quarter in Wandsworth - Pascal will bring valuable insights to the NLA’s vital work in addressing the challenges facing London’s high streets. We are excited to share that EPR Project Director David Scowcroft and EPR Associate Director Charlotte Partridge joined Eliza Grosvenor, Head of Programme for the London Festival of Architecture, for the latest episode of the LFA’s Building Sounds podcast. Recorded from inside The OWO, the episode delves into the historic and contemporary voices behind the project, uncovering the hidden stories that emerged during EPR’s eight-year transformation of Britian’s Old War Office into a world-class hospitality and residential destination. Our remarkable journey is explored through the lens of this year’s festival theme, ‘Voices’, which encourages us to listen to and amplify the narratives that shape our spaces, stories and communities. In response to the theme, the episode celebrates the many talented individuals and disciplines that contributed to the restoration of this iconic London landmark. From the consultants and structural engineers to the eleven distinguished interior design studios and artisan craftspeople, each played a vital role in bringing The OWO to life. David and Charlotte also reflect on the many voices that have shaped the building’s past, present and future - from historical figures such as Winston Churchill and Lord Kitchener to its new residents, hotel guests and the public, who can now experience The OWO for the first time in its history. We are excited to announce that a project we have contributed to, 1 Mayfair - one of London’s most ambitious super-prime residential developments - has topped out. Towards the end of last year, our fantastic project delivery team celebrated this significant milestone alongside key representatives from Caudwell, including founder John Caudwell, as well as team members from RAMSA | Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Mace and other contributors. To mark the completion of the structure, including its impressive 27-metre-deep basement, EPR Group Director James Everitt, along with the leaders and runners of the delivery team, signed the final steel rafter - one of 79 at roof level - after it was secured in place atop the nine-storey building. Scheduled for completion in Spring 2026, 1 Mayfair will offer 24 luxurious residences set around a central garden, complemented by world-class amenities including a health club with a 20-metre swimming pool, stunning entertainment halls and underground parking. With the structure now complete, we are excited to progress into the next phase which will involve finishing the shell and core works and installing the building’s elegant Portland stone façades. #eprarchitects #architecture #design #mayfair #toppingout #1Mayfair #SuperPrimeProperty #LuxuryProperty #residential Photos Caudwell
