📍 Moor Lane, Bolton. Step Places faced an extremely tight funding deadline for securing planning permission for the Moor Lane site, in part due to its significant strategic importance within the 2017 Bolton Town Centre Framework. A 'key intervention area' and not to mention a vital route for improving pedestrian movement across the town, the site was already of significant interest to local politicians, stakeholders and the community. On top of all that, half of the site lies within the Town Hall Conservation Area, and in the setting of two important listed buildings. We were humbled to be invited to the Embassy Village MCR formal ‘Spade In The Ground’ event in Manchester yesterday afternoon - a huge milestone in the delivery of a brand new community of 40 homes for homeless men below the railway arches in Castlefield between Bridgewater Canal and the River Irwell. This incredible initiative will be a pioneering approach to tackling homelessness and deprivation by providing homeless people with their own front door along with skills training and wrap around support. The new village will also have a village hall, outdoor green spaces, mini allotments and a multi-use sports area. Huge congratulations Sid Williams - you are an inspiration and should be proud of everything you have achieved so far, and the incredible contribution Embassy Village will make once it is open.
