💫 Christmas Donations 💫 We work hard throughout the year to support local organisations with fundraising, gifts and volunteering and we also spread some extra cheer at Christmas with a number of financial donations to charities in each of the regions we operate in. Our charities were chosen through an employee survey three years ago, so we know each one has a place in the hearts of our people. In Scotland, Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).💛 In Ireland, SVP - Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland. 💛 In Northern Ireland, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland 💛 In England, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) 💛 Thank you to each of the organisations for the amazing work they do. 🌍 Farrans achieves Platinum in Environmental Benchmarking Survey 🌍 Business in the Community Northern Ireland’s annual NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey results have been released at an event at Titanic Belfast. We are proud to say that Farrans achieved Platinum in the 2024 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey, the highest level of achievement. Over 130 Northern Ireland organisations from a range of sectors declared the measures they take to improve the environment and their emissions. The findings are used to benchmark, measure progress, and drive improvements year-on-year. Vicki Johnston, Sustainability Advisor, Farrans Construction, said: “We are delighted to have achieved Platinum status in the BITC survey this year, demonstrating our excellent progress in this area. We have implemented best practice in our environmental processes. We have undergone a materiality study to develop a strategy that identifies 4 key areas of impact Climate Action, Circular Economy & Resource Management, Environmental Protection & Biodiversity and Ethical Procurement & Sustainable Supply Chains. We want to become a Net Zero business 10 years early, by 2040, through commitment to the Climate Pledge.” Find out more: https://lnkd.in/evtQZ6fz #sustainability #futuresatfarrans #construction #civilengineering

💛 A fantastic milestone for our Yellow River Wind Farm for SSE Renewables.💛 #energy #renewables #civilengineering #power
We’re celebrating first power being generated from our 101MW Yellow River Wind Farm located in Rhode, County Offlay. 🇮🇪 Working alongside system operator EirGrid Group, high voltage electrical engineering contractor Suir Engineering and civils contractor Farrans Construction, teams successfully connected and energised the project’s 29 Nordex Group N117/3600 wind turbines and associated Knockdrin 110kV substation to the existing Derryiron 110kV Transmission Station nearby. ⚡ With first power now achieved, testing of turbines will take place over the coming months ahead of reaching full power and entering commercial operations, expected in early 2025. 📆 The wind farm will help contribute to Ireland’s 2030 renewable energy targets while delivering homegrown and secure clean power for Irish energy consumers. 🏡 Read more about the landmark milestone below. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eUdDTX6D

🎄This year we took part in Mission Christmas at our headquarters in Belfast.🎄 Thousands of children in the UK and Ireland wake up to no presents on Christmas Day. Our CSR team heard the call from Cash for Kids and set up a drop off point for donations of games, puzzles, dolls, books, clothing and vouchers for babies and children aged from 0-17 years old. We have been overwhelmed with the response from our colleagues, particularly at a time of the year when there are more financial burdens on us all. Our pile of presents has grown steadily since we launched the campaign in November and we are delighted to be able to bring a large van full of wonderful donations to the Cash for Kids drop off point at Balloo Hire Centres this week. 💛 We know that these presents will have a big impact for so many children and families on Christmas Day.💛 #socialvalue #community #donations #futuresatfarrans #missionchristmas

We were delighted to get the opportunity recently to photograph one of the largest student accommodation developments in the country at Bottleworks Student Accommodation in Cork. Bottleworks is a 623-bed, purpose-built student accommodation development which includes multiple 10-storey blocks, located on Carrigrohane Road in Cork. With the delivery of 19,267 sqm student accommodation on a 0.64 hectares site, Bottleworks is a leading example of efficient use of space within Cork City. Sustainable modes of transports are actively promoted with on-site with free bike hire and storage offered to all students. The development of a scenic cycle path to the rear of Bottleworks connects to a wider cycle path along the Curraheen River which makes it possible to cycle from the Carrigrohane Road scheme, via cycle paths, to MTU. This project was nominated in the category of “ Best New Development” at the Cork Business Association – Better Building Awards, recognising outstanding new construction projects that positively impact the city’s landscape. This award celebrates innovative design, sustainable practices, and thoughtful integration with the surrounding area with this category highlighting developments that enhance Cork’s architectural diversity and contribute to its growth. DBFL provided the civil and structural design services for this development which is constructed on piled foundations, with the ground floor raised above the local flood level. Constructed as a reinforced concrete flat slab frame, the building maximises the number of storeys along the skyline of the banks of the River Lee. With sustainable practices remaining at the forefront of thinking at construction stage, GGBS cement was widely used in the concrete for this project to ensure a reduced carbon footprint in the concrete production. #EngineeringSustainableFutures Farrans Construction Mitchell McDermott Butler Cammoranesi architects Caldwell Consulting Engineers LTD Cathal O'Meara Landscape Architects Novel Student #dbfl #dbflengineering #structuralengineering #consultingengineers #sustainability

💫 Social Value 💫 We recently marked the exciting topping out milestone of our Griffiths Farrans JV transformational public transport project at Bristol Airport. While on site we are also delivering a programme of social value and stakeholder engagement which will leave a positive, lasting legacy in the region. We still have lots more great work to achieve before the end of the project and our infographic shows how much we have already done. The public transport interchange and multi-storey car park is part of Bristol Airport’s largest capital project ever. The £60m investment will enhance services and accessibility for customers arriving or departing from Bristol Airport. #socialvalue #sustainability #aviation #england #bristol #construction Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd

Congratulations to Rotherhithe Primary School named Regional Finalist in the CIVIC TRUST AWARDS 2025! Rotherhithe Primary School’s redevelopment transforms it into a modern, inclusive community hub. Embracing the concept of a "school within a garden," it extends the green space and openness of Southwark Park into the school grounds, creating a stimulating and protected outdoor environment for students, many from high-rise homes without gardens. The design prioritises inclusivity, with spaces for children with special needs, and fosters community connections through flexible facilities for arts, sports, and workshops. Celebrating local heritage and prioritising sustainability with energy-efficient systems and green features, the school is a beacon of hope and pride for its vibrant, diverse neighbourhood. The project will now compete for National Awards or Highly Commended status, with winners to be revealed in January 2025 and celebrated at the Civic Trust Awards Ceremony in March. https://lnkd.in/ej4iskzZ
