Enabling investment into conservation, climate and communities

About us

Finance Earth (formerly Environmental Finance) is a leading environmental impact investment advisor and fund manager, working across the conservation, natural and built asset sectors to create innovative, investable projects. Our mission is to redirect private capital into the environment to fill the $600-800 billion p.a. global conservation funding gap. We achieve this through the design and application of commercial strategies to deliver positive environmental, social and financial outcomes. We provide targeted advice, working with our partners such as DEFRA, the National Trust, RSPB, WWF and CORE Partners to deploy funding into environmental and social initiatives. We are members of the Finance for Sustainability group, a non-profit organisation working on big ideas to connect new forms of investment to social issues.

  • 🌍 Today we'd like to mark two important milestones for people and planet: 1️⃣ Social Enterprise Day As an employee-owned #SocialEnterprise, Finance Earth is committed to putting communities at the forefront of our nature and climate projects, and to investing the majority of our profits into mission-aligned initiatives. We're proud to be part of Social Enterprise UK and People and Planet First, alongside local and global partners, building a future where social and environmental impact are at the heart of the economy. 🤝 2️⃣ Nature, Oceans, Indigenous Peoples, and Gender Day at #COP29 Finance Earth has signed Nature4Climate's COP29 Nature Statement, calling on UNFCCC Parties to properly recognise and substantively finance nature’s role in addressing the climate crisis. Healthy ecosystems are not just co-benefits—they’re cost-effective climate solutions that urgently need dedicated funding with respect for the needs of Indigenous communities. Without this recognition and investment, global efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C risk being undermined. 💸 Read the COP29 Nature Statement here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dX-xWvFi #SocialEnterpriseDay #COP29 #NatureBasedSolutions #PeopleAndPlanetFirst #NCQG #ClimateFinance #NatureFinance

#ClimateChange and #biodiversity loss are existential threats to humanity, with Africa bearing the brunt of their impacts. As a climate-vulnerable continent, #Africa faces profound economic, social, and developmental risks, exacerbated by its heavy reliance on natural capital and alarming rates of biodiversity loss. To reverse this trend, we urgently need substantial funding, particularly from #PrivateCapital. In response,#FSDAfrica in partnership with the African Natural Capital Alliance (ANCA) and Finance Earth, is excited to launch the 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (CAPE). This initiative aims to support high-integrity, nature-based carbon projects across the continent, addressing the critical investment gap they encounter. #CAPE will provide: 🟢 Essential project development services 🟢 Transaction advisory support 🟢 Pathways to help promising initiatives reach financial close 🔍 Expressions of interest opens in early November! • 📢 Finance Earth and 50+ other businesses have called for the Prime Minister to announce an ambitious and investable Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for 2035 at the upcoming #COP29. Our Managing Director, Richard Speak, is quoted supporting the joint letter:   “To tackle the joint climate-biodiversity crisis domestically and globally, it’s imperative that this government connects nature protection and restoration to all climate action plans... We urge the Prime Minister to prioritise this synergy, ensuring that our policies and economic strategy contain concrete delivery plans to grow our country’s natural capital. We believe the UK can lead the building of a sustainable future – ecologically, socially, and financially.”   We're proud to join world-leading companies, investors and financial institutions in signing this letter coordinated by the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA), urging the UK to re-establish its climate leadership on the global stage.   Integrating nature restoration and outlining credible delivery mechanisms are essential, not only to meeting the UK's 2050 #NetZero target, but also to paving the way for other countries to follow.   Read the full letter here ➡ https://lnkd.in/ePcfRGCd Corporate Leaders Groups UK Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL)   #BGALetter #BGANetZero #2035NDC #climateaction #naturepositive #NbS

📢 Business leaders urge the UK government to set a world-leading example by setting ‘ambitious’ and ‘investable’ climate targets. Read the full letter coordinated by the UK Business Group Alliance for Net Zero (BGA) ➡ https://lnkd.in/ePcfRGCd More than 50 businesses, investors and financial institutions have signed a letter to the Prime Minister, put forward by the BGA, urging the government to reassert its climate leadership on the world stage 🌍 With the #COP29 conference just weeks away, signatories including the UK Corporate Leaders Groups (CLG UK), Unilever, SSE plc, IKEA and BT Group are calling for the UK to be one of the first countries to announce an ‘ambitious and investable’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for 2035 🎯   The letter states that the NDC must align with the Paris Agreement and the UK’s 2050 #NetZero emissions target - and be underpinned by credible delivery mechanisms that encourage other countries to follow suit. 🤝 By working together as businesses, investors, financial institutions and government, we can be a powerful catalyst for global change. To coincide with the letter, CLG UK has also published a report that shows how the UK can regain its climate leadership position over the next few years through five key actions. If implemented, these policies will close the 2030 delivery gap: 🔌Deliver on electrification: incentivise and facilitate large-scale electrification, while phasing out the use of fossil fuels 🤝 Deliver on markets: support decarbonisation through market creation 💡 Deliver on skills: plan and prepare for a future-fit workforce 🏠 Deliver on homes: implement comprehensive and stable policies to ensure UK homes are comfortable, energy efficient and low carbon 🍃 Align climate and nature targets: make climate change mitigation, adaptation and nature targets mutually reinforcing Beverley Cornaby, Chair of the BGA and Director of CLG UK, said: 🗣 “If the Government can accelerate policy action towards achieving its 2030 climate target, the UK has an opportunity for growth, innovation, investment and to build resilience. The private sector stands ready to work with policy makers in delivering this, with over 50 signatories calling for a new era of UK climate leadership, showing what we already knew: businesses have consistently shown their support for net zero ambition and action. The UK government needs to demonstrate leadership in this decade of delivery."  #BGALetter #BGANetZero #CLGUK #2035NDC #EnergyTransition #climateleadership #climateaction #businessaction #naturepositive

  • 🏝 Earlier this month, our Managing Director, James Mansfield, and Associate Director, Yann Grandemange, travelled to the beautiful island of Saint Lucia for RedLAC's annual Congress. It was incredibly valuable to engage in critical discussions on the role of private and blended finance to fulfil biodiversity and conservation goals. A key focus was exploring scalable strategies to achieve the Global Biodiversity Framework's 30x30 target across Latin America and the Caribbean. Following RedLAC, Finance Earth hosted a 2-day workshop for our partners at the Bahamas Protected Areas Fund and seven other National Conservation Trust Funds (NCTFs) from across the Caribbean. We're pleased to continue our collaboration in identifying investment opportunities and developing a unified capital-raising strategy for the NCTFs to drive private sector finance towards climate and nature throughout the region.   Interested in learning more? 📨 Reach out to us at: hello@finance.earth Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund NCTFJ - National Conservation Trust Fund of Jamaica Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund, Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund, St. Christopher & Nevis Conservation Foundation #conservationfinance #30x30
