Last week, our CEO James Hygate travelled to Curitiba, Brazil, for the IWA Conference, where he had the privilege of joining a dynamic panel discussion with industry leaders Clovis Zapata and Mark Zappi. It was evident from the discussion that strong alignment exists within Brazil towards the need to tackle climate change. 🌍 Another highlights of James' visit was a productive meeting with Sanepar, resulting in an MOU that strengthens Firefly’s growing presence in Brazil. This partnership paves the way for exciting new opportunities, particularly in bringing #SewagetoSAF technology to Latin America. 🚰➡️✈️ James and the team also want to say a big thank you to Gustavo Ribeiro for his support throughout the trip. Firefly plan to continue building strong collaborations with our Brazilian partners to drive innovation and sustainability in the region. 🌟 #Firefly #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #ClimateAction #Innovation #Brazil #SAF #Partnerships #SewageToSaf #CleanTech
About us
Firefly is a pioneer in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), creating our product out of one of the most abundant, continuous waste feedstocks there is: sewage. Firefly’s SAF has a life cycle carbon intensity over 90 percent lower than that of the existing fossil-based jet fuel. It can also be made anywhere in the world that there is sewage, meaning it offers real, global potential.

This week two members of our team travelled up to Manchester to present at the European Biosolids & Bioresources Conference. 💩🌱 Sergio Lima and Jason Askey-Wood delivered a detailed update on Firefly's progress to date, showing how sewage-to-SAF technology will soon deliver significant impact for the UK's aviation and water industries. 🛫 Firefly's novel tech can produce highly sustainable fuels from biosolids, an often difficult and expensive waste to dispose of. ♻️ Firefly offers a solution to this problem, whilst also generating value and supporting global decarbonisation efforts. 🌍 The team are very thankful for the invitation to present at this event, and the chance to meet with such a broad range of delegates and experts.

Firefly partners with Brazil’s Sanepar on feedstock British sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) developer Firefly Green Fuels has signed an agreement with Brazil’s largest water and sanitation company Sanepar to increase its access to sustainable feedstock for biofuels production while expanding its footprint into the growing Brazilian and Latin American markets. Through this collaboration, Firefly and Sanepar will jointly explore opportunities to convert locally aggregated biosolids (sewage) into advanced biofuels, including SAF. “Brazil has emerged as a global leader in biofuels, and this partnership with Sanepar solidifies Firefly’s position in this rapidly growing market,” said James Hygate, CEO, Firefly Green Fuels.
