About us
Established in 2010, Future Biogas is at the forefront of the anaerobic digestion industry. We are a highly experienced developer and operator of AD plants across the UK, and able to provide full service capabilities of development, construction, operations, ongoing compliance and asset management, both to our own projects and to those of third parties. We operate plants for JLEN, Aviva, Bio Capital, and Aberdeen City Council. Our plants convert a wide range of feedstocks into clean, renewable energy, through a process of anaerobic digestion which produces biogas. Biogas can either be used to generate green electricity, or upgraded into biomethane and injected in to the UK’s national gas network.

Join RASE and Future Biogas for our first event of 2025 🗓 The event will take place at Grange Farm Energy, Lincolnshire on Wednesday 22nd January for an AD plant tour followed by a light lunch at Hemswell Court. This is a unique opportunity to see first hand how a large scale gas to grid anaerobic digestion plant works. Hear how farming businesses can benefit without the need for capital investment; how energy crops can enhance arable rotations and how long term feedstock supply and digestate offtake agreements help mitigate the risks of input prices. Find out more and book your place here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/epqTRqgK

At Future Biogas we hold an annual Christmas card competition for the children of our team. This year (as always!) we had many absolutely outstanding entries. As we near the festive break, we're proud to showcase some of the age group winners. Choosing winning entries was no easy task, with a huge amount of effort having been put in by everyone. A big thank you and well done to all who entered!

Each site owned or operated by Future Biogas runs an annual local community fund aimed at supporting not-for-profit initiatives that promote education and social or environmental sustainability. Vulcan Renewables has been a regular supporter of Hatfield Woodhouse Village Hall, a community facility just 1.5 miles away in South Yorkshire. The hall serves as a hub for many local groups, clubs and businesses. The funding provided by the Vulcan Renewables in 2024 helped the hall embark on an energy-saving programme, without compromising on the many other upgrades and equipment also required. Applications for all 2025 local funding schemes will open again in the new year!

New modelling by ADBA and Business Modelling Applications (BMA) reveals that expanding #biogas and #biomethane use could save £298 billion in energy system costs – equivalent to £415 per British household annually – compared to current UK government scenarios. Policymakers have underestimated the potential of organic feedstocks. While the government’s Biomass Strategy estimates 35 TWh of biogas production, recent studies suggest the potential is at least 3 times more, offering a far greater contribution to the energy mix and net-zero goals. These findings, based on BMA’s Decisio™ platform (used by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and National Energy System Operator), demonstrate the cost-saving and climate-friendly benefits of green gas. 👉 Read the report: https://lnkd.in/ewVDuRGD Inside ADBA’s “The Role of Green Gas in Net Zero” report learn how AD and biogas: ☑️ Cut the costs of 2030 clean power goals, saving £22 billion (£133 per household annually). ☑️Provide reliable, year-round, local back-up power, especially during winter peaks. ☑️Achieve carbon neutrality by capturing CO2 affordably and reducing emissions. ☑️Replace fossil gas in the existing system without major retrofits – storage and transport are simple and low risk. ☑️Create headroom within net-zero targets, giving hard-to-abate industries more time to adjust at a lower cost.
