Busy weekend wrapped up with over 100 girls taking part in our Spirax Group Coaching Clinic at Kingsholm, before the Gloucester Hartpury Rugby vs. Loughborough Lightning match. Taking over the Gloucester Rugby Training Centre, where on pitch coaching with the Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation coaches took place, before a player Q&A and wellness talks delivered by Gloucester Hartpury players. Big thanks to the wonderful guys at Spirax Group for funding our women and girls development programmes and to England Rugby for our Impact25 grant that funded the match tickets. Yesterday was the first anniversary of the launch of our girls only rugby camps at Hartpury University and Hartpury College and it was another sell out! 🫶 Just over a year ago we were told things like “you won’t get enough numbers to make a girls only camp viable” and “the demand isn’t there” well… after a year of rugby camps all over the county I am happy to report that the naysayers were wrong. 😁🍒 Once again, huge thanks to the guys at Prima Dental Group for believing in and supporting the dream. We couldn’t have done it without you. 🤍 And here’s to another calendar year of showing that if we provide the right opportunities, the Gloucester Hartpury Rugby Camps will continue to fill up. New Year and a new challenge! On 11th January as part of a team of 8 women I will be attempting to complete 15 ‘marathons’ in 24 hours in full firefighter kit in order to raise funds for the 4Ed charity (part of Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation) which supports families affected by Motor Neurone Disease To read more about the challenge or to make a donation, please see the link below. 🎭| oh no it isn’t |🎭 What a great day on Sunday for our first Christmas Panto, in partnership with Walls Ice Cream. We welcomed over 170 people to Gloucester Rugby’s Heritage Bar. Where we transformed the room into the Giants Castle for a Chaplins Pantos production of Jack and The Beanstalk. With free hot chocolate, soft drinks and snacks provided by our friends, Freemans Event Partners, and interval ice creams from Walls, it was a night to remember for our partner charities and families that we support through the Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation. Next up is the return of our amazing Santa’s Workshop 🎅 where the Heritage will be turned into a magical experience for those who would otherwise be unable to meet a another man who happens to wear Cherry and White 🍒 Christmas mode has been fully activated! In September we re-launched our TRY Tag Rugby programme for Primary Schools across Gloucestershire. Looking back at Term 1 we are really pleased with the impact and feedback. Its amazing to see children moving more, learning new skills and developing teamwork and strategies together. Big thanks to all the supportive school staff at: Blakeney Primary School, Andoversford Primary School, Stow on the Wold Primary School, Walmore Hill Primary School and Hester's Way Primary Schools. I’m finally able to share just one of our many exciting projects for next year! And yes… we will be doing another physical challenge leading up to the big game. Maybe not 100 miles this time… but who knows…? There will undoubtedly be various ridiculous curveballs that will come our way, and that we will together overcome (canals that burst their banks, routes that aren’t routes etc) The friendship, the care, the support and the reminder of our “why” at The Matt Ratana Rugby Foundation will always be front and centre of absolutely everything we do. Raise Your Game aims to create three key transformations in participants’ lives: 😁 | Improved Mental and Emotional Wellbeing: Through workshops co-led with trusted local organisations, participants will gain a better understanding of mental health, develop positive coping mechanisms, and adopt stress management techniques. 🫂 | Formation of Positive Friendships: Weekly trauma-informed sessions will provide a safe space for young people to bond with peers, encouraging lasting friendships and social connections that extend beyond the programme. 🎓 | Increased Confidence and Educational Engagement: By participating in Raise Your Game, young people will reconnect with the value of education, understanding its role in securing future opportunities and building a pathway to success.
