An online round table event discussing South Asian communities and the diagnosis and treatment of depression is available for primary care on 30 January, 2025. The event aims to help shape the direction of the PAPER Study (Prescribing Antidepressants in Primary care: Ethnic inequalities in tReatment) - an NIHR funded study led by Dr Lydia Poole at the University of Surrey. A new group mentorship opportunity for practice managers and assistant practice managers is available from the PCB's GP Excellence Programme. Starting in January 2025, there will be two cohorts running over four sessions covering time management, finance, HR challenges and building resilience. The training is suitable for new practice managers, practice managers who have recently returned from maternity leave or long-term sickness and assistant practice managers (with a succession plan in place to become PM within 18 months). The training course is being delivered by the GP Excellence Programme in collaboration with experienced trainer Luan Stewart. A new series of training videos are available to help #NHS workers recognise and tackle uncivil behaviour in the workplace. Produced by NHS England North West in collaboration with Wake The Beast theatre company, The five short films use verbatim words to portray different scenarios that people have experienced while working in the health and social care profession. As well as highlighting examples of inappropriate behaviour, the videos include practical ways of dealing with it from the perspective of a witness, a victim, a line manager, a first listener (someone who the victim opens up to) and a perpetrator. Research involved talking to more than 50 health and care colleagues, who were happy for their experiences to be used as examples for the videos. The scenarios are performed by actors. The real-life scenarios are set in a hospital, a GP practice, in the ambulance sector and in a community care home.
