We're excited to be providing Passivhaus design guidance, retrofit guidance and MEP guidance for a feasibility study on this project. It's our favourite type of project - a mix of old and new with lots of heritage challenges!
MCW have been selected to work for Cambridge Royal Albert Homes on the redevelopment opportunities of their alms-houses in Hills Road, following a design competition last year. The charity provides subsidised homes for independent older people of modest means who have a close association with Cambridge. Good to see progress on the Portugal Street retrofit of a terrace in Cambridge for student accommodation. We attended the project recently to review the MEP first fix work. The retrofit is full of challenges – working with an old building as well as bringing the whole building up to date with fire regulations and targeting the AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building standard. Greengauge has provided building physics & MEP services to the project which is lead by MCW Architects with PML. & Munro Building Services Ltd
