  • Is enforcing arbitration awards truly the easiest route?   Last week, our founder and CEO, Thomas Eymond-Laritaz, spoke at the Asset Recovery International 2025 conference in Dublin on a panel discussing the challenges of enforcing arbitration awards across jurisdictions. Thomas was joined by leading industry experts, including Andreas Frischknecht, Partner at Chaffetz Lindsey LLP; Andrew Stafford K.C., Barrister at Kobre & Kim; Isabel Cristina Lopez, Founding Partner at LOVILL; and Maciej Durbas, Partner at Kubas Kos Gałkowski.   With arbitration often seen as a faster and more cost-effective alternative to litigation, the panel explored whether the current system delivers on this promise. Thomas shared insights on the challenges award creditors face across different jurisdictions and how they can leverage pressure points to ensure timely enforcement.   Highgate is proud to have been a sponsor of the conference, a leading event for asset recovery, civil fraud and insolvency experts. Thank you to Ros Prince and Informa Connect for organising this conference and inviting us.

  • Highgate’s founder and CEO Thomas Eymond-Laritaz spoke at the ThoughtLeaders4 Disputes | TL4D Sovereign & States Disputes and Enforcement Summit 2025 today.    Thomas presented a case study where Highgate successfully supported a US investment fund recover a $500m award against a foreign government. Thomas explained how Highgate’s dispute resolution methodology of UNDERSTAND – COMPEL – PROTECT – NEGOTIATE complemented the legal process and finally brought the two sides together to resolve a 15 year dispute.    Highgate is proud to be a sponsor of the event, which is exploring strategies for pursuing non-compliant states and methods of enforcing judgements and awards. #SovereignStates #Enforcement #Disputes #FIRE #TL4

Time flies: this year was my 20th edition of the World Economic Forum in #Davos. Not sure I age like fine wine, but #WEF2025 was definitely a Grand Cru! 🍷 It is impossible to list all the events and meetings which made this Davos edition so special. I just want to share here five outstanding experiences for which I feel particularly grateful: MUSIC FOR HOPE AND GRATEFULNESS 🎼 Yo-Yo Ma played for us three songs of #hope and #gratefulness under the falling snow on the terrasse of the #Schatzalp overlooking the Davos valley. It was beyond magic. Thank you Yo-Yo Ma for your art, leadership and generosity, and thank you to the Artic Basecamp for organising it. THE RETURN OF THE JEDI 💫 I was blessed to have a meeting with my old friends Pr. #Yunus and Lamiya Morshed. After years of political persecution, Pr. Yunus became Prime Minister of #Bangladesh with a mandate to restore democratic standards, and social and economic prosperity. What an incredible turn of events and what an inspiring and exceptional leader! Bangladesh and the world are so blessed to have him. PAVILION FOR SCREEN DETOX 📵 While most pavilions on Promenade were promoting #AI, HIGHGATE proudly took a contrarian stand: we ran a campaign to put an end to the screen addiction epidemy spreading among kids and teenagers. My Highgate colleagues designed and ran the Future House pavilion for the Human Change Foundation, in partnership with Project Liberty. The team curated 19 high-level oversubscribed panels with the best specialists from all around the world. Kudos! Fun fact: there was no 4G connection in the pavilion… WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS 🫕 I started the tradition of the #DavosFondueLunch 20 years ago. At that time, we were just a few around the table – this year, we were more than 160. The concept remains the same: no speech, just nice people and melted cheese. Thank you to all the friends who made this gathering so special, warm and fun. THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN ⛷️ My personal tradition is to close Davos with a full day of #skitouring on Friday. We put the skins under the skis, climb the high mountains and enjoy the untouched wild powder slopes away from the crowds. After 4 full days of business meetings, I need to face the grandeur and beauty of the mountains. My personal issues are put in perspective and become minuscule. Best Davos detox ever! Thank you to my friends David-Alexandre Gadmer, Karl S. Moussalli, Barnaby Stueck and Alex Chalk KC for sharing this magic moment in the mountains with me. HIGHGATE has many clients and friends in #Davos. It is no surprise that we come with a large delegation. Thank you to Valeriya Melnichuk, Jamie Monckton, Victoria Ergolavou, Ileana Konialidis, Jenna Galper, Anna Kredisova, Maria Veiga Barracosa, Róisín McCrimmon and Vanesa Valcheva for the hard work, the fabulous team spirit and the extraordinary outcome for clients and Highgate.

Another year, another Highgate Fondue Lunch in #Davos! Over 160 guests joined us yesterday for our annual Davos Fondue Lunch. This is a tradition our founder and CEO, Thomas Eymond-Laritaz, started 20 years ago as a small dinner among friends that has now grown into a must-attend event at #WEF. What makes it special? The simplicity: no agenda. Just great people, fondue, champagne and interesting conversations. Guests arrived knowing one or two faces and left with new connections and stories. A huge thank you to all our partners, clients, and friends who joined us, and to the HIGHGATE team for organising such a fantastic afternoon. See you next year. #Davos2025 #WEF25 #HighgateFondueLunch
