As proud supporters of Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) we’re helping them spread awareness of the devastating reality of youth suicide in the UK. In the last decade, 6,929 young people in the UK have taken their own lives. It’s a stat that underlines a devastating truth: so many young lives are ending when they should just be beginning. Right now, suicide is the most common cause of death for those under 24. Together we can END youth suicide. Richard Walker OBE, Iceland Foods Executive Chairman and Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation Chairman, Tarsem Dhaliwal, Group Chief Executive of Iceland Foods and Trustee of Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation and Iceland Ambassador, Josie Gibson met with Simon Gunning, CEO of CALM and Wendy Robinson, Director of Services at CALM to discuss the issue. Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has raised £37 million to date and our mission is to make life better for people.
About us
Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation (IFCF) has donated an incredible £37 million to date. The Foundation has been in existence since 1973 as we have always been committed to raising funds for good causes. In 2013 we gave the Foundation a public face to help recognise the achievements of our colleagues and customers and to make it easier for people to support us. This is the IFCF we know today, and you will see in Iceland and The Food Warehouse Stores. Our mission is simple and clear: we want to make life better for people. That’s why we raise money and awareness for good causes - and because we believe it’s simply the right thing to do. At IFCF we have four core focus areas where we try to make a significant difference. Over the years we have also supported several fantastic causes and organisations. Our core areas are dementia, wellbeing, environment and children related charities. We are proud to represent our charity partners as we are stronger together!

We proudly support our charity partner Prostate Cancer UK with an important message. 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. And the odds only get worse if you’re Black, over 50 or if it runs in your family. The lack of symptoms and screening tests mean that all too often, men are finding out they have it by complete chance, too late. The earlier prostate cancer is caught, the easiest it is to treat. Your gift today will help enable research projects like Prostate Cancer UK's TRANSFORM, the most comprehensive prostate cancer screening trial ever undertaken, to become a reality. Early diagnosis could save up to 40% of prostate cancer deaths – that's thousands of lives each year. Your gift will help to improve early diagnosis methods, save lives and provide vital support that helps men navigate prostate cancer. It’s about time diagnosis wasn't left to chance. Please donate if you can here : https://bit.ly/4g5YvuH Richard Walker OBE #IFCF #charity #charitysupport #prostatecancer #prostatecancerawareness #menshealth #dontleaveittochance

This year why not be a #SecretSanta and you could help a vulnerable child feel the magic of #Christmas? For vulnerable children across the UK, Christmas is anything but magical. No stockings. No presents. No festive food – maybe no food at all. But you could help change that. We're proud to support our charity partner Action for Children's cause. If you can help, please donate here: https://t.co/fmnXmdiJhl #IFCF #Charity #Charitysupport Richard Walker OBE Iceland Foods

Can you help Alzheimer's Research UK? Dementia diagnosis is a particularly challenging aspect of the dementia experience. As proud supporters of our charity partner Alzheimer's Research UK we wanted to share this post to help them improve the experience of getting a dementia diagnosis. The valuable insight they gather will help them shape their charity work in this area and drive change across society. Richard Walker OBE #dementia #dementiaawareness #dementiadiagnosis #research #sharethispost
Currently, only around 65% of people with dementia symptoms receive a diagnosis, often after a lengthy wait. We want to understand the experience of seeking and getting a diagnosis of dementia. This valuable insight will help us identify how to make the pathway and experience better. This is where we need you! We want to hear from people who've been diagnosed with dementia in the last three years, or who are currently seeking answers for memory and thinking concerns. We’d also like to hear from you, if you‘re supporting a friend, family member or loved one. The survey only takes around 20 minutes to complete. Those with dementia symptoms or a diagnosis can complete it alone, or with the help of someone else. You can take part in the survey here: https://bit.ly/4fs8kCV And do help us reach even more people living with a dementia diagnosis by tapping share.

This is a frustrating setback for all those people affected by #Alzheimers, along with their loved ones 🫶 Although it may not be a cure, it's a remarkable step forward for new treatments 💪 We're proud to support Alzheimer's Research UK in their work to #findACure Find out more about today's announcement and how you can help ⬇️ Richard Walker OBE #IFCF #Charity #CharitySupport #AlzheimersAwareness #Research #Donanemab #NHS
Today a new drug for early-Alzheimer’s disease, donanemab, has been licensed in Britain by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. However, it has not been given the green light for the NHS in England and Wales. This is incredibly disappointing. After decades of tireless research, we finally have two new Alzheimer’s treatments licensed in Britain. But we’re stuck in a deadlock. While these breakthroughs exist, people still can’t access them through our national health service. And we know more treatments are coming. NHS England has identified nearly 30 other dementia drugs that could be available by the end of the decade. This gives the government and NHS a crucial opportunity to transform how dementia is treated - just as Labour pledged in their manifesto. But despite our hard efforts, we still haven’t heard from the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting MP on how he plans to break this deadlock. It’s more urgent than ever that the government acts on their promise, and brings together stakeholders from the NHS, NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and industry so people affected by dementia don’t continue to miss out on innovative treatments. Head to our website to find out more about today’s news and how you can help ensure dementia is given the political priority it deserves. https://lnkd.in/e6nV2HVU
