Hi there,
my dad is running the Brighton half marathon on Sunday 2nd of March for all of us Ickle Pickles. I was born prematurely and spent the first 7 weeks of my life in hospital fighting to come home.
My mum had to have an emergency c-section and the doctors prepared my parents for the worst outcome. Fortunately, I, little Maximus came out screaming and punching - but that was only the start of our journey. For the first 2 weeks, I was kept in the top-level intensive care neonatal unit in Southampton on various machines and ventilators.
Whilst we were going through our worst possible time we were fortunate enough to be helped by various charities that allowed us to be together. Things like ready-to-go snacks and meals help give you the strength to carry on, to medical equipment like incubators, ventilators and everything in between.
Did you know that they support 50 neonatal units? They helped us so much in our time of need. I stayed in Southampton for 2 weeks and a further 5 weeks in Chichester.
We were so grateful for the help and treatment that we just wanted to give a little back. Please support Sam’s Marathon Challenge and donate: https://lnkd.in/e6UvMiV8
