Research and knowledge at the heart of development

About us

Research and knowledge saves lives Our vision is of research and knowledge at the heart of development – where decisions are informed by relevant and rigorous evidence, and where knowledge is created with the communities it is intended to serve. That requires many voices, many institutions and many types of knowledge. We call it an equitable knowledge ecosystem. Our mission is to support Southern individuals and institutions to make that possible. INASP was established by the International Council for Science (ICSU) in 1992, and was registered as a UK charity in 2004. Based in Oxford and governed by an international Board of Trustees, INASP is run with a small number of staff and a team of Associates spanning 13 countries.

I'm on my way to Pretoria for Science Forum South Africa. Looking forward to UK in South Africa's session on science diplomacy for open access on Thursday, and some great looking sessions on supporting early career researchers and enabling young people to lead. Next week it's on to Cape Town for the Global Diamond OA Summit and some fresh perspectives on reforming research publishing. Get in touch if you're going to be at either event and want to connect. At INASP we're deepening our focus on early career researchers, educators and their institutions across the Global South. How can we -- as a network of partners and a community of experts distributed across the world -- support early career academics to develop skills and build their careers? Because if they're thriving, so can their ideas, so can their students, and so can their communities. #SFSA #DOASummit2024
