Discover how the Catapults are driving innovations that are shaping the future and impacting our world 🚀✨ Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult has reported a 7% rise in UK advanced therapy clinical trials in 2024, reaching 187, with Phase I trials increasing by 70% to 41, highlighting the UK’s growing role in the global and European clinical trial landscape 🧬 Compound Semiconductor Applications (CSA) Catapult partnered with BT Group and Space Forge to develop high-frequency, energy-efficient RF GaN power amplifiers using ultra-wide bandgap materials, enhancing 5G and future 6G networks while supporting the UK's sovereign wireless infrastructure supply chain 📡 Connected Places Catapult is partnering with HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd and the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom to support six UK SMEs in developing innovative technologies for automating asset management, enhancing productivity, and future-proofing railway operations 🚄 Digital Catapult, in partnership with Smart Nano NI, has launched a 12-week Technology Access Programme, helping 11 companies leverage photonics, future networks, and deep-tech to accelerate innovation. Last week, the Innovate UK Catapult Network helped facilitate a meeting between West of England Mayoral Combined Authority and seven #Catapults to discuss the region's Local Action Plan 🏴 This included sharing initiatives for boosting business innovation and developing regional opportunities in key sectors - all of which are aimed at supporting the social and economic growth of the region. Techniques like illuminating nanoparticles to generate heat for targeted cancer cell destruction and developing nanophotonic biosensors for personalised medicine are driving progress in diagnostics and therapy. 💊⚡ High Value Manufacturing Catapult – Advancing Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics: CPI is driving the development of next-generation cancer treatments, enabling the scale-up of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), RNA, oligonucleotides, and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for targeted drug delivery. CPI is also at the forefront of cancer diagnostics, collaborating with major industry partners to accelerate biomarker translation from discovery to bedside, improving early detection and personalised medicine. Additionally, CPI is supporting QV Bioelectronics in developing GRACE, an Electric Field Therapy implant designed to slow the progression of glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain tumours. By harnessing bioelectronic medicine, this breakthrough approach aims to enhance patient survival and quality of life.
