Really excited to see this project out in the wild. Over the last two years we’ve been gathering data from businesses across the UK. Asking about their innovation activities and ambitions. The aim was to provide an up-to-date and detailed view of innovation across the business landscape. It’s been a labour of love for a number of people and huge appreciation to all those involved at the various stages. Now to making sure the evidence feeds into the decisions about how best to support innovators. Innovate UK Enterprise Research Centre (UK) Innovation & Research Caucus
"What’s life like for innovating businesses in 2024?" We answer this question in Innovate UK's State of Innovation 2024 report. The report draws on the Innovation State of the Nation Survey; a major new initiative from Innovate UK which aims to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive look at what life is really like for innovating businesses on an annual basis. The report draws on data from 2,000 businesses of all sizes, from every region and nation of the UK. Read, share and discuss the report here: https://ow.ly/3wbi50Unulb

It was great to be in Manchester last week as part of the WorldSkills UK National Finals. 🏅Congratulations to WorldSkills UK on such an inspirational event and to the Greater Manchester colleges, providing a fantastic experience for so many learners. 🤝It was great to be a part of the Centre of Excellence events, delivered in partnership with NCFE. I’m not sure I’ve fully absorbed all of fantastic presentations, leaving enthused for what could be possible. 💡With pages of notes from the WorldSkills UK innovation projects, it was great to hear how the The National Network of Institutes of Technology is taking forward schools engagement to promote STEM careers and inclusion as well as the collaboration between University of Kent and Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult to promote laboratory and industry skills. 🔮The response to the work of Innovate UK’s Workforce Foresighting Hub offered support for how the data and insights driven by the Catapult Network can add benefit to the span of technical education - ensuring learners are equipped with the skills needed for our future workforce. 🍀The opportunity to discuss the Innovation & Research Caucus’s work on the innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialisation skills framework through the lens of the T-shaped learner opened the space for further collaboration with WorldSkills UK. 🙌🏻 Thank you to WorldSkills UK and Cerian Ayres for championing our world-class talent, and opening the opportunity for collaboration with Innovate UK in pursuit of world-class innovation.

Today we were at University of Warwick - Warwick Business School for our monthly seminar. This time Stephen Roper and Serdal Ozusaglam, Dr presented their research on “Testing the Starbucks effect: does having more coffee shops really make an area more innovative?”. Fascinating insights on the role of ‘third spaces’ in local innovation, taking forward knowledge in an area where there has previously been only limited empirical evidence.
